I was a video producer at Zen Studios for 9 years. I did almost all video assets for our games - teasers, trailers, short videos, even documentaries. I also did all screenshots for social media and every digital store front.
Throughout these years I worked with:
- Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Audition
- Unity Timeline
- Unreal Sequencer
- Davinci Resolve
- Affinity
Here's a playlist of the videos I made, a personal favorite selection:
Here are some more videos that were special in some way. The notes will hopefully tell why.
A Teaser for the brutal Texas Chainsaw Massacre Pinball. It was a challenge to capture the atmosphere of the franchise while hinting strongly that this is gonna be a pinball game. I didn't have a lot of extra resources so I had to be clever about it too.
Fortunately we had the interior of the house already done for the table and the creaky stairs gave me an idea. All I had to ask for is a simple ball animation and the mask slipping down a bit. I set up the cameras, added precisely timed cam shakes and threw in a few sound effects.
The result resonates with a classic horror movie approach: building suspense by showing less.
Explaining game mechanics in a fun way? Sounds like another challenge! For this one I had a script already written and the voice lines recorded. Capturing the gameplay and editing them together to get the desired effect was fun.
Goofy. The word I was looking for is goofy.
I really like this intro! It looks awesome and creating it was another lesson of how to use limited resources smart.
We had a Jaeger model but only its upper half. However, I really wanted to start with a fight scene. So I asked the animators to throw the Jaeger against a huge Pacific Rim Pinball cabinet and I'll do the rest.
I created the environment from scratch, added fog, rain, tweaked the post processing to make it look like a scene from the movie. Finally, I placed the camera pretty close to the Jaeger.
In the gameplay segment I also used some specific camera angles to make the cardboard targets look bigger and more menacing.
