INITIAL TOP-DOWN DESIGN
To prevent spawn killing, I ensured the respawn points are well-covered, with obstacles and structures that protect players from immediate threats. One side of the map has a height advantage in its respawn area, giving players an elevated position that can be used strategically, but without making it overpowered.
The time it takes for players to reach the central area from their spawn is consistent across both teams. Similarly, the travel times to key flanking routes and strategic points are equally timed, so no team gets a mobility advantage right from respawn.
I also paid attention to the visual design of the respawn zones. They are placed in such a way that players can easily identify the best routes to take once they respawn, guiding them toward safe paths or important objectives without feeling lost or exposed. This clear layout not only helps players navigate but also contributes to the overall map flow, making sure that the respawn process feels integrated into the game’s rhythm.
