Mechanical Engineering (MEng)-5th Year
University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Scotland
Grade: 2:1 (Average: 69%)
Notable course: Wind Energy 5 (01/2021-05/2021)
One of my final year elective courses I chose was Wind Energy 5. During this, I learned about some of the key aspects of wind turbine design including wind farm economics, key component design, and the development process in onshore and offshore wind farms. This has further fuelled my interest in the wind industry.
Design projects
My third-year group design project included designing and manufacturing a tow generator for a sailing boat. Working as part of a team I designed and integrated the different components into a functioning prototype. The prototype was a success with our team scoring 80% in the demonstration.
Below are some pictures of the prototype our group made.
My second-year design projects have included a small arch truss bridge and a carbon ceramic brake disk for a performance sports car. Both projects were designed using the MATLAB Maths Works coding software.
