Recent outreach activities
26/04/2024: Together with Bianca Mezzina, I wrote a blog post about the processes leading to the record low Antarctic sea-ice extent in 2023 on the EGU Cryosphere Blog.
06/02/2024: I briefly presented the process of writing and editing posts for the EGU Cryosphere Blog during a campfire webinar organized by the EGU Cryosphere Division around the theme of 'Creatively Communicating Cryoscience'.
01/02/2024: The Inforsciences Department from ULB has developed a Python Notebook to help secondary-school teachers teach their students how to use the Python programming language and how to analyze meteorological data. I provided advice to set up this notebook and was interviewed about my work as a climatologist in this video.
05/12/2023: I recommend you have a look at the recently published paper led by P. Friedlingstein about the Global Carbon Budget and the associated Global Carbon Atlas. In particular, they find that global CO2 emissions from fossil fuels are still increasing (by ~1%/year). Our remaining carbon budget would be expired in about 7 years with the current level of CO2 emissions (~40 GtCO2 / year) if we want to limit global warming to +1.5°C (compared to 1850-1900 levels) and in about 28 years to limit it to +2°C.
17/11/2023: I wrote a blog post about the year 2023 for Antarctic sea ice on the EGU Cryosphere Blog.
07/06/2023: The Pôle académique Liège-Luxembourg published a series of podcasts with different professionals. I was interviewed in one of them about my job as a climatologist at RMI. HERE is the podcast in French.
02/06/2023: I wrote a blog post about my recent experience of collaboration with the artist Zacharie Bodson about the links between over-consumption and changes in Arctic sea ice on the EGU Cryosphere Blog.
21/05/2023: I gave a (general public) conference about my research on sea ice - ocean interactions (slides HERE) as well as a conference about my shared collaboration with the artist Zacharie Bodson on Sunday 21 May afternoon in Brussels. This was in the framework of the Seas & Oceans exhibition organized by Talk CEC. More details on the exhibition: https://talk-cec.com/index.php/conferences/. HERE is a preview of the artwork created by Zacharie.
04/04/2023: benvox recorded a podcast where Zacharie Bodson and me explain our collaboration in the context of the Seas & Oceans exhibition organized by Talk CEC. Listen to the recording HERE in French.

16/01/2023: I received 8-year-old kids from the primary school Singelijn to visit RMI and answer their different questions. HERE are my slides in French.
09/12/2022: I wrote a blog post about the interactions between Arctic sea ice and the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) on the EGU Cryosphere Blog.
Since December 2022: I am collaborating with Zacharie Bodson (artist) in the framework of the Seas & Oceans exhibition organized by Talk CEC, which will happen between 20 April and 25 June 2023. The theme of our collaboration is about climate change in polar regions and overconsumption.
09/11/2022: I gave a presentation about climate change at Maison de la Laïcité in Fontaine-l'Evêque (Belgium). HERE are my slides in French.
24/10/2022: I gave an online presentation about sea ice - ocean interactions in the Arctic in the framework of the European Marine Board Navigating the Future VI workshop. HERE are my slides.

Hamdi (both at RMIB), we invited young people (18-25 years old) participating to the "Service Citoyen" to RMIB and presented both the meteorological station and topics related to climate changes. I gave a presentation about changes happening in polar regions. HERE are my slides in French.
04/10/2022: I gave a presentation about climate change to people working at the Confederation of Christian Trade Unions (CSC) in the framework of a formation organized by EGALIBERTE asbl at the Floreffe Abbey (Belgium). HERE are my slides in French.
