To me, being a professional teacher in the field of education is being someone who’s main goal and focus is to helps to the new generation become smarter and stronger both mentally and physically. As a teacher, I have a responsibility to make sure my students understand the knowledge I need to teach and learn the material I am teaching them. I also need to make sure that I create a safe environment for my students so they can be able to learn and feel comfortable in my classroom.
My teaching philosophy is about learning teaching the basics and then gradually climbing moving up to more difficult challenging tasks and concepts. Too often there is the misconception that faster is better, yet this philosophy can be counterproductive. I believe in in slow and methodical steps get one to their to achieve one’s goal., slowly Systematically getting things done correctly is better than doing things carelessly and haphazardly. I will prepare my lesson plans and implement teaching strategies make sure to ensure that all tasks proceed at the correct pace so that everything is done slow enough to where all every students has the best opportunity to will be able to correctly learn to their best of their ability and also learn correctly all while adhering to the class curriculum.
Another key element I also think communication is key between a teacher and their students is to develop two directional communication. As important as it is for a teacher to be communicate to their students, the students must have the ability to openly and effectively communicate their needs to the teacher. If students can learn to Students should be able to trust their teachers enough to where they have the confidence to go and ask the teacher for help when they don’t understand the material being taught. I believe in making myself available after class hours for students to reach out with any questions or concerns. An important aspect that I will draw on from my experiences when I have been in a teaching or mentoring role is to use my listening and empathy skills. I have realized that In a class of culturally diverse students, I have realized that they all learn behave different learning styles and so it is important from me to listen and understand each individual student. This will allow me to use the various teaching techniques that I have learned tapered and customize them to the student’s individual needs and thereby giving the student the greatest opportunity for success. By offering support sessions times after school, it helps the student as well as me, the teacher, to see where students may be are struggling the most and incorporate some review in class as needed if necessary. The students are being taught new things by the teachers, so the teachers will know how to solve problems and how to guide students to answering the problems correctly. Teachers should not give the answer away if a student is stuck because they will not learn how to solve the problem. Teachers must teach how to solve a problem instead of teaching the answers.
In order to create a safe, non-bullying teaching environment, I will try intend to teach in an inclusive classroom style so that all the students are involved in all activities during class. This will make sure everyone is working together and getting some sort of recognition and positive feedback. Having the students work together in groups will help deepen relationships, create long lasting bonds, and cause less tension between the students. As a teacher, I will be observing for any kind of bullying/harassment in the classroom. If anything were to happen, it would be reported addressed properly and be stopped as fast as possible. Making sure students feel safe and comfortable in class will insure the best possible outcome in learning for all.
