I initiated my scientific career as neurobiologist in the group of Dr. Xavier Navarro (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). During my PhD under the supervision of Dr. Caty Casas, I described the potential of Systems biology and Artificial Neuronal Networks to obtain novel and effective therapies for nerve injuries. I provided clear evidence showing that boost the endogenous mechanisms of cellular resilience exert neuroprotection in the nervous system. In this way, I discovered the drug combination NeuroHeal (NH), which is a pharmacotherapy that boosts the endogenous mechanisms of neuroprotection. During this period, I received training in cellular and molecular neurobiology, and I got familiar with Systems biology and Artificial intelligence. After defending my PhD (October 2017), I conducted a brief postdoc in the same lab. In October 2019, I moved to INEM (Institute Neckers Enfants Malades) at Paris Descartes University (France), and joined the group of Dr. Franck Oury to work on the role of systemic milieu in nervous system functions. In parallel, I am investigating novel functions of autophagy in cognition.
I am interested in understanding how the body regulates neuronal function across the lifespan, and in the molecular and cellular mechanisms that preserve cognition during aging. My work centres on the hippocampus, where I study how systemic and metabolic signals reshape neuronal epigenetics and autophagy to sustain memory. I address these questions in vivo, combining mouse genetics and behaviour with molecular and cellular biology.
