My name is David Osten, I am a theoretical physicist from Germany. Since October 2026, I am Postdoctoral Fellow (Oberassistent) at ETH Zürich, Switzerland. Before that, I was researcher (principle investigator of a SONATA junior group and a POLONEZ grant) at University of Wrocław, Poland, after shorter postdoctoral positions at Lomonossov University in Moscow, Russia, and Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany. I obtained my PhD in 2020 at the Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich under the supervision of Dieter Lüst.
My research focuses on integrable models, their mathematical structure and their physical applications in string and M-theory, general relativity, condensed matter and plasma physics. I am also interested in the mathematical structures behind: the Lax formalism for field theories, differential geometry (generalised geometry, graded symplectic geometry, ...) and algebraic structure (generalisations of Lie algebras, higher brackets, L-infinity algebras, tensor hierarchies, ...).
Besides research, I spend a lot of time making or listening to music, swing dancing, sports, enjoying games (Chess, Go among others) and reading up on history and politics.
