My name is David Osten, I am a theoretical physicist from Germany. Since March 2023 I am researcher (from August 2025 principle investigator of a SONATA junior group) at University of Wrocław, Poland, where I have close ties to the group of Falk Hassler. Before that I was postdoctoral fellow at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, Germany, and at Moscow State University, Russia. I obtained my PhD in 2020 at the Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich under the supervision of Dieter Lüst.
My research focuses on integrable models, their mathematical structure and their physical applications in string and M-theory, general relativity, condensed matter and plasma physics. I am also interested in the mathematical structures behind: the Lax formalism for field theories, differential geometry (generalised geometry, graded symplectic geometry, ...) and algebraic structure (generalisations of Lie algebras, higher brackets, L infinity algebras, tensor hierarchies, ...).
Besides my research I spend a lot of time making or listening to music, swing dancing, sports, enjoying games (Chess, Go, Skat, ...) and reading up on history and politics.
