Opportunities that await.
The human race is racing toward the year 2100. You can bet, those who will be born 10 years from now will have the privilege to witness the events unfolding then. I consider that the golden era, when man will get enlightened to understand the immortality of the heavens and the creator.
How will the world look like when our grand and great grand children are the ones influencing global decisions? Will there be more forest cover than we have today? Will the world be more peaceful than it is now? Will technology be the new world curse or blessing as we see oil in our age?
We can ask endless hard to answer questions that will only serve to build anxiety rather than inspire. Already, the world is divided in so many fronts that to assume progress in technology will only yield positive outcome is being too naive as to the dangers building up.
But what really would make the difference come 2100? May be that's too far to think about it of which I don't think is the case! Well if you are reading this chances are you might just miss it by inches. What I know for sure is that your very immediate descendants and I mean your very own children will be in the thick of it; keeping everything constant, the total lifespan of a healthy person can reach 80 to 100 years; that basically puts all under 18 to new born in that bracket.
This places a very crucial and heavy responsibility on this generation in defining the life and comfort of future generations. It is incumbent upon this generation to make sure future generations will not look back in disbelief that we knew of the possible impact of our actions and we never paid any attention to any of it.
We shall be branded the greedy and barbaric generation that feared not God and had no courtesy to look after its own children. I mean the ethics in every technology we develop must lead the way and not ambition.
Is human existence headed for the collapse?
Our ecosystem is fragile and very fragile. Just like the human body is fragile so is everything that interacts with it. It is a delicate balance between flora and fauna; a shift in one has a knock on effect in multiple systems. But nature is tuned such that, it always and almost always seeks stability which in some ways may result to a new norm.
We humans are the only privileged species with dominion and power to exploit our environment. Everything else is at the mercy of nature. But there is always a limit. Our privilege has boundaries, you may call them constraints or whatever but that is the truth. For centuries we have sought to realize those limits with varied success.
Take for example, we know nothing can travel faster than light for it shall cease to exists in the form as we see things. As we near that limit, a transformation is expected to occur from mass to energy. We also know there is no known material that can withstand the forces at those speeds, let alone the human body which cannot survive a tiny fraction of that speed.
What this tells us, we are very limited indeed. When compared to the life of the universe, our lives cease to have meaning and are nothing but a blot, a speck of dirt in the vast cosmos. Yet here on earth we feel great, dream great and plan great. Lets stop for a while and just focus on our lives where which any great man or woman would do.
Where does it all start and how does it all end? This is the question you a bound to ask yourself and try to seek answers as you grow older. Life will either have meaning or the lack of it. No two ways. And it has to do with everything, here on earth and beyond. Not realizing our reason for being is a sure way to end everything with you: some people commit suicide, others become selfish and greedy and amass wealth without regard to environment, fellow humans and laws. This is the genesis of environmental degradation.
The greatest mistake any nation can make is to ignore its creator. We’ve reached a point in time where we think God is really not required. The thought that we have become self sufficient enough not to depend on any force or creator is the beginning of the great fall.
Life is full of imperfections and mankind is the most unreliable promise ever one could have. We seem to control almost everything only to realize we have no control of ourselves let alone others. Our bodies are the weakest link in the chain.
There are definitely forces that surround us we do not comprehend. Man has always been in denial about this fact. Forces superior, clever, cunning, evil and stronger; always deriving fun in the suffering of mankind.
People are fond of referring to luck, probabilities in event outcomes for we are not sure of outcomes. What controls those probabilities and luck? If I may put it differently, if we had total knowledge, won’t it be reasonable to always flip the outcome to be equated to efforts rendered; at least in all fairness?
A farmer would plant crops in the season expecting rain and it does not! And even when it does and the crop is ready, a swarm of locusts evade and the crop is destroyed before it reaches the markets. For another, it works well, the question is; who controls the rain, the locusts and the markets?
I guess your thoughts are, well at least we can control the markets! Here I ask, him who controls the rain and the locusts which no one knows how; then, can he fail to control the easiest of them all? Research has been advanced on the which, how, why and when it happens; we have never seen the “who” causes it to happen!
Faith in God gave men the ability to overcome obstacles so great and impossible by mere human strength and intellect. Behind every discovery and invention were men and women who believed in a greater force that influences outcome. Today we take for granted almost everything we have without appreciation of the sacrifices made to create a better today.
It is not strange to see a group discrediting education and out rightly claiming it is not required yet they themselves are entirely the product of the same education. From clothes, food, transport means to housing and everything. This is a classic example of the benefactor disowning the upholder.
And here so is man disowning God.
To think that the world powers will continue to rule in their domains and not cross borders is to forget history and live only in the now. There is a reason why for generations history of origins is told over and over lest we forget where we came from.
It will be very unfortunate if we forgot our past mistakes because for sure we shall repeat the same. It means we never learnt from history when empires of old fought battles to consolidate lands and wealth, it means we never learnt a lesson when Hitler sought to conquer the world.
Creating and allowing a super power is something that should never be allowed to happen unless we knowingly decide to enter that destructive phase of humanity. When this happens for sure just understand terrible times lay ahead for all mankind.
In this phase everything moves so fast, things spiral out of control and few will understand causing even more confusion. These changes seem to offer much needed help while in actual fact it’s a trap into oblivion.
Woe unto the generation that find themselves going into this era without God. Suffering untold will be the norm. People will be rendered subjects with absolute loyalty stripped of all freedom of existence. A horror movie will be an understatement. They shall be called troubled times when death would be more welcome than life.
Man has dominion to rule and have power over all creation except human life. Thou shall not kill is a classic example of this illustration. To take away life has been and will always be contrary to the divine law set by creator.
Scientists love to court trouble, even when confronted with the impossible. When the outcome would violate the fundamental principles of existing creation that should be a clear sign the red line is being crossed.
It can be argued that, this line is never known until it has been crossed. Does the end justify the means? Like most achievements sacrifice is made for any progress.
Can AI and will AI be used against mankind? My answer is a resounding yes. Not by robots as some put it, but by fellow human beings. When you understand the design and operations and programming of robots, you will also understand why it’s all hype that robots will turn against man.
Accidents happen and an advanced robot designed for combat can inadvertently release weapons indiscriminately killing both adversary and opponents. Or hacking by the enemy can happen and the same weapon used against its owner.
Monopolies create wealth for the rich and kill competition. In the name of consolidation and mergers big corporations that distort markets are created. This is a good thing for shareholders until they realize all their eggs were in one basket.
Diversification spreads risk, increases competition and improves service and product quality. Companies not up to the game fall by the side and let those that differentiate define the future. Innovation is key where competition is rife and the spin offs far outweigh the negatives.
There are far fewer cases where mergers and acquisitions make sense. In a very granulated and disparage situations consolidating brings synergy and numbers to break even. Big corporate are sometime inherently flawed in their architecture or management. Success does not always mean everything is perfect. Certain business environment can expose a business weakness and subsequently lead to its collapse.
That is why; great mangers understand sometimes success is a combination of having an idea whose time has come at the right time and with the right people. When the shift happens you’ve got to move with it; that is referred to innovation and change management.
Imagining creating monoliths without understanding the true heartbeat of the business and an imminent collapse for failure to capture the moment. The loses are colossal, jobs lost and people suffer. Diversification spreads risk and preserves jobs.
