The song also makes reference to Johnny Rodriguez stealing an Angora goat from a ranch near Utopia, Texas owned by Uvalde County Judge Bob Davis, which ultimately led to Rodriguez being discovered. The song peaked at number 17 on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and at number 23 on the Canadian RPM Country Tracks chart. It was written by Coe with Jimmy Rabbitt, who is also a popular radio DJ in Texas.
The song expresses Coe's frustration with the country music industry and his desire to be recognized as a genuine artist rather than a novelty act. He sings about how country DJs do not play his songs or come to see him perform, and how he faces prejudice from bikers, cowboys, hippies, and loudmouths in the bars where he plays.
