Dave Brandwein
Composer - Producer - Musician - Audio Engineer
David Jacob Brandwein is an American record producer, composer, mix engineer and musician. He is known for his work with the internationally touring band Turkuaz, of which he was the founder and bandleader, as well as producer and principal songwriter over their 10 year span of releases and critically acclaimed live performances.
After graduating from Berklee College of Music in 2008, Brandwein moved to Brooklyn, NY and founded Galaxy Smith Studios, a commercial recording studio where he would produce multiple Turkuaz records as well as several indie artists and more than 30 albums over the next decade.
With Talking Heads serving as a major influence for the creation of the band, eventually the vision came full circle in 2017 when Brandwein teamed up with Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads, Modern Lovers) to produce two singles for Turkuaz. Jerry then enlisted Dave and the band along with legendary guitarist Adrian Belew (Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Paul Simon, King Crimson, Nine Inch Nails) to organize a tour celebrating the 40th Anniversary of 'Remain in Light', for which Brandwein served as musical director and frontman.
In 2022, Dave and his studio moved to Los Angeles, CA where he began embarking on new solo projects, including another collaboration with Harrison and Belew, and enlisting drummer Daru Jones (Jack White, Pete Rock) for the two debut singles by New Originals. He also released a debut album under the moniker Band For Sale, on which he collaborated with members and alumni of Train, Grace Potter and Lucius.
As of 2024 as his solo and writing/producing endeavors continue, Brandwein has also begun a new phase of his career in scoring, composing, sound design and mixing for film and television.
