Dave Moore is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Iowa City, Iowa. Known for his warm voice, storytelling lyrics, and skilled musicianship, Moore blends folk, blues, Americana and conjunto music into a sound that is distinctly his own.
Moore has been a longtime fixture in the Iowa music scene. His songwriting is deeply rooted in Midwestern life, often exploring themes of travel, work, love, and everyday resilience. His thoughtful lyrics and stripped-down acoustic style connect deeply with listeners, whether he's performing solo or collaborating with other musicians.
Moore was a recording artist for Red House Records and he continues to earn recognition for his authenticity, craftsmanship, and enduring contributions to American roots music. He has also been a frequent performer on the nationally acclaimed radio program A Prairie Home Companion. Moore has toured extensively throughout the United States and Canada, bringing his music to a wide range of audiences.
In 1984, he was awarded an NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) Folks Arts Apprenticeship Grant, to study conjunto music
in San Antonio, from legendary conjunto pioneer, Fred Zimmerle.
In 2017, he was the recipient of the "Lifetime Achievement Award" presented by the Folk Alliance Region Midwest (FARM).
