  1. Blog 1: My Research Journey Before joining MBBS

Firstly, I wanted to mention that in life rejections come more than success. Similarly, as a Researcher , you may get your experiments wrong, your paper might get rejected several times, other researchers might bully you. Remember, negative things occur most of the time that's why the smallest of success also gives a great pleasure.

So, let me come to my story. Everyone has a different situation. There is no place of sympathy in the real world. But please don't judge anyone and don't compare anyone. In this field ,all the UG researchers are great. I am here to inspire more and more new comers who are very much interested in research works. I believe from UG level only, a medical student should be trained in research works.

My research interest was from childhood. For instance, when I was around in 3rd or 4th grade, I used to break different things like telephone and used to study the different circuits. to be honest they were very complicated. And that time I didn't have access to YouTube. My father bought me different encyclopedias and Science encyclopedias. To gain extra knowledge those were my only options. Being from a third world country, computer accessibility was not so common, so coding and all were very tough for me. My first source of scientific based knowledge were those encyclopedias only. I wish I could access YouTube then.

In 5th grade, I made a simple instrument called periscope. That time I don't have a camera to reel it. But I can remember it clearly from my visual memory. It was a grey colour long box of my mother's Sunscreen lotion and I put two small square glasses in a 45 degree angle. So, after that I made many things like picture of rockets, Satellites and many others which I have preserved in a file. I made many hypothesis and made models and their structures . In grade 6 or 7, I made a camera, which was functional but we cant take a photo of that so I could tell that a failure project. My elder uncle gave me a telescope, I made a simple microscope with those lenses. I have sent one future city structure on MARS to NASA. So upto Grade 10, I did many things like that. That time I got internet too, a 2G internet. So, my world broadened. I did a lot of things upto class 10. But rarely did anyone support or inspire me in those things. People from my society always thought that these were waste of time. But they can't understand, the immense pleasure I got from them. That time there were no such websites like the one now so I had to write all my thoughts. So, I thank those encyclopedias which helped me a lot when no one was with me.

In Grade 11 and 12, I left my home town Konnagar and came to Kolkata. The life in a metropolitan city was tough and I wasn't habituated to it. So, my creative scientific works got hampered. At grade 12, I joined Wikipedia as an editor where I have written and published several scientific articles. I have worked for Hindi Wikipedia at Wikipedian Asian Month 2016 .This was my journey of scientific research before joining MBBS.

Its all about curiosity. Rarely people support you, but you have to put the best efforts at your level to make it happen. Besides all these rejections, My first scientific article was accepted in my School Magazine "Rito" . It was a short article about Geo Science which I had written in Bengali
