How To Pick The Perfect Date Idea.
Dating can be fun and exciting but it can be difficult to choose the perfect date that you and your significant other will truly enjoy. So we created a guide to help you decide which awesome date idea to go for!
Here is how to choose the perfect date idea:
1. Assess your relationship.
Take a step back and look at how much you know the person, how comfortable you are with each other, etc. For example, it would be unwise to ask your date to prepare love notes to be read on the first date.
2. Know your partner.
Know what their likes, dislikes and hobbies are. Know what they appreciate. This would influence what ideas you would choose and when. For example, if your partner is affected by lights in the nights you won’t take them to a live concert.
3. Pay attention to the season.
via: Unsplash / Houcine Ncib.
This could mean anything from the weather, to the season of your relationship. For example, your partner is pregnant certain activities would be out of the question or if it’s winter you probably won’t have a picnic in the backyard.

How many times can you go out to dinner and a movie? Not that there’s anything wrong with the quintessential date standard, but it gets boring after a while.
Especially if you’ve been in a relationship for any length of time, you’re probably running out of date ideas. You are still going on dates, right. Even long-term relationships need to go on a date occasionally.
So, for those of you who feel stuck in the “dating rut” here are some date ideas for couples:
Do a restaurant tour – Pick an area with a bunch of restaurants. Start with cocktails and appetizers at a restaurant with a bar or lounge, head somewhere different for the main course and finish up someplace else with fabulous desserts. Look for treasure – Browse antique stores, flea markets, second hand shops or yard. You don’t have to buy; just looking is fun. Movies with a twist – Instead of haggling over drama vs. action and settling on a comedy flick to keep the peace, why not leave it up to chance. Close your eyes and pick. Whatever it is, both have to agree to honor the choice or it’s not fun. Explore the nearest state park – Pack a picnic. Go for a hike or hit a nature trail. Rent bikes – Go on a biking tour of your area. There are often organized bike tours or routes already mapped out for you. Rent a boat for the afternoon – If a sailboat is not your thing, rent a rowboat, paddle-boat, or kayak. Attend a festival in a neighboring city. Broaden your dinner horizons – Choose a new restaurant, someplace neither of you have ever tried. Bonus points if it’s a different ethnic cuisine than you normally eat. Do some stargazing – Get a book on constellations, aim your telescope at the stars see how many you can pick out. Prefer a more professional venue? Visit a planetarium.
There are so many dating options out there to choose from, depending upon your interests, budget, and location. There’s something for every couple. Remember, whether you’re 20 or 60, dating should be fun!
66 Date Night Ideas to Inspire Romance.
Dating is important—not just for getting to know a love interest, but for sharing experiences throughout a relationship.
In the beginning, a good date idea sets the scene to break the ice and help you make a connection with someone. "Whether it's the movie you saw, the food you ate, or the place you visited, it's important to have an enjoyable experience and continue to get to know each other," says Dr. Jane Greer, New York–based marriage and family therapist and author of What About Me? Stop Selfishness From Ruining Your Relationship.
Deeper into a relationship, regular reconnections can help keep your bond solid. "Dating can be extremely beneficial toward keeping romance alive, and making a practice of going on regular dates can be a great way to jump-start that habit," says Denise Limongello, a licensed psychotherapist based in Manhattan, who points out that lack of romance is a common reason for breakups or divorce.
But coming up with new activities to do as a couple or ways to spend date night is harder than it seems! That's why we polled the experts to reveal their favorite date night (and day) ideas for couples, first-time dates and relationship statuses in between.
First Date Ideas.
Think hard about the venue while you're planning a first date. Good first date ideas are ones that facilitate upbeat conversation, so it's probably not a good idea to choose a loud bar or dark movie theater. It's okay to keep it simple the first time you go out with someone. In fact, you might want to go to one of your own favorite places.
1. Meet at a coffee shop.
"Most coffee shops are set up to facilitate intimate conversation, which is just what you want on a date," says Esther Boykin, licensed marriage and family therapist and author of The Date Deck. "And most importantly you can stay for 30 minutes or 3 hours and exiting the date at either point doesn't seem awkward or forced."
2. Have dinner.
Probably the most common first date idea, the dinner date can take up more of your time but definitely sets the mood for eye contact and talking. "Going out for a nice dinner [gives you the] opportunity to share the dining experience while getting to know each other," Greer says.
3. Take a cooking class.
"One of my other favorite first date ideas is to meet for an activity like painting or cooking," Boykin says.
4. Taste wine at a vineyard or winery.
"If you're often nervous making small talk, an activity gives you built-in conversation topics," Boykin says. "Just be sure to choose something that doesn't involve lengthy instructions from a teacher or ongoing group discussion, which will hinder your ability to get to know your date one-on-one."
If the first date goes well, you'll want to plan a second one. "I think the simplest and most effective way to decide if you should have a second date is to ask yourself, 'Do I want to talk to this person again?'" says Boykin, who notes that many times people needlessly stress about what a second date means.
As for as good second date ideas are concerned, "show the other person that you were paying attention on the first date by doing something to show you learned a little about them," Boykin says. "It could be as simple as choosing a restaurant she mentioned liking on the first date or congratulating them on their favorite team's recent win (or consoling them if they lost)."
Fun Date Ideas.
Planning a fun date from time to time adds joy to any relationship. "You need to set aside time to be together and enjoy your shared activities and hobbies," Greer says. "You're prioritizing your time with your partner so that you can create more intimacy between the two of you. With everything going on in people's lives, you can wind up flipping into creature comfort and not wanting to bother going out or doing anything."
"Fun" has different meanings to different people, so choose something that speaks to your and your date's personalities. What makes you smile? Let loose? Act silly?
5. Picnic.
"Plan a picnic with your partner—this can be very different, old-fashioned and romantic," Greer says.
6. Be adventurous.
"Try biking or hiking a trail; enjoy an afternoon in nature," Greer says.
7. Sing karaoke.
Who cares if you can't carry a tune? Pick a few favorite songs, and we'll sure you'll lower your inhibitions a bit.
8. Go dancing.
9. Take a pottery-making class.
This activity can be romantic too. Remember the movie Ghost?
Cheap Date Ideas.
Don't feel as if you need to spend a lot of money on a date. "It's not the amount of money you spend or what you're doing, rather than the fact you're setting aside time to be together and build intimacy," Greer says. Cheap and free date night ideas include:
10. Stay in and watching a movie together.
Order a pizza or affordable take-out!
11. Take an exercise class together.
Couple's yoga is a good bet! Or, if one of you is a gym member, get a guest pass and bring your date along with you.
12. Sit by the lake, pond or river.
Feed the ducks, people-watch or gaze at the sunset.
13. Spend the day at the beach.
14. Re-create a pricey class at home.
"Wish you could take a cooking class together? Find a video or recipe online and learn how to cook a great meal together," Boykin suggests. "If you love the idea of those sip and paint evenings, create your own art studio at home with inexpensive paints and canvases from your local art store." We also love the idea of signing up for a subscription with Plated, so you can make delicious, chef-designed recipes at home with fresh, pre-measured ingredients.
Romantic Date Night Ideas.
Whether you're looking to ignite or rekindle romance—or simply keep it aflame—it's not just what you do on the date, it's how you treat your significant other while you're on it.
"Romance is created through affection between the two of you, like compliments, light touching or remembering what your partner likes—like their favorite ice cream or a single stem of their favorite flower," Greer says. "Romance can be found when you pay attention to your partner, remember what they like and show them they matter to you."
Some romantic ideas for her or for him include:
15. Dinner date night.
Have dinner at a quiet, quaint restaurant; or at home, paired with a good bottle of wine.
16. Go ballroom dancing.
17. See a show at a comedy club.
"Laughter is the fiber of intimacy," Greer says. "Laughing together helps people bond."
18. Get a couple's massage together.
19. Plan a weekend away.
Plan a ski trip, a stay at a bed-and-breakfast, or a quick getaway to a nearby city.
"Flowers and candlelight can be romantic, but so can hot dogs and a baseball game," Boykin says. "It is a balance between doing what you know your partner loves and taking a little risk to try something you think they may like. The idea that there's still more to learn and be surprised by in your relationship is what fuels the sense of romance."
Cute Date Ideas.
Okay, so your partner says they want to "do something cute." You're probably wondering what exactly that's code for. Well, when we want a cute date idea, we want to break the mold and turn the typical date on its head. So get cute with one of these adorable ideas:
20. Plan a date night surprise.
"Research shows that many satisfied couples report appreciation when their significant others take the time to surprise them," Limongello says. Don't tell your partner you have something planned, and create a fun night. It can be having a simple candlelit dinner waiting when they get home, but the fact that it's a surprise will make it special.
21. Have a lunch hour date.
Whether you have conflicting schedules or just need to switch things up a bit, it will be fun to rendezvous in the middle of the day for a change.
22. Cook something you've never tried before.
Pick a cuisine you're not very familiar with or make something from scratch—such as fresh pasta, charcuterie, candy or beer— together, suggests Melody Li, a national certified counselor and licensed marriage and family therapist associate based in Austin, Texas.
23. Plant a garden together.
Whether it's an herb garden, cacti or mini fruit trees, this is a fun, sweet activity that can be as labor intensive or simple as you want it to be.
24. Print and frame your favorite photos.
This is a fun activity for an established couple. "Give new life to old frames from thrift and vintage stores by filling them with photos you cherish," Li says.
Winter Date Ideas.
When the weather cools down and you're planning a date, you've got two choices: Plan something warm indoors or embrace the chill! Whatever you plan to do, make some time to get cozy with a little hot chocolate or some cuddling at the end of the date.
25. Do a winter sport.
Take your pick: skiing, ice skating, snowboarding or snow tubing.
26. See a movie.
"Research has shown that watching movies with relationship themes and talking about them can be as effective as premarital counseling," Boykin says. "The secret? Couples must be intentional about the conversation they have after the movie."
27. Have an indoor picnic.
"I love to cook a great dinner, open a favorite bottle of wine and lay out a blanket in front of the TV," Boykin says.
28. Go to a museum or art gallery.
29. Start a blog together.
Li suggests "Your blog can be a collection of your favorite poems, photos and inside jokes. Or, if you have a shared interest like baking, juggling or upcycling, consider starting a themed blog to grow your community."
Creative and Unique Date Ideas.
Use your imagination to come up with a few unique date night ideas your partner won't see coming. Some of our favorite dates are unexpected, creative and adventurous. Give these out-of-the-box date ideas a try for a new twist on the same old date.
30. Go glamping.
Let's say one of you loves to "rough it" and the other would rather stay in a fancy hotel. Meet in the middle for a little "elegant camping," Limongello suggests. You can still enjoy the great outdoors together but with some creature comforts.
31. Get crafty.
"Make something beautiful," Li says. "Put your creative minds together—bury a time capsule, make a short film, home brew with seasonal ingredients or make jewelry."
32. Foster or rescue a pet.
This is a fun idea for couples that live together. Share the love by welcoming a furry friend into your home!
33. "Do a food truck tour," Li says.
"Support local entrepreneurs while you enjoy a range of tasty treats."
34. Take a photo walk.
"Wander around and capture anything that catches your eye with a camera or phone" Li says."Try shooting from a different perspective than you usually do. Have fun and be silly!"
Double Date Ideas.
Double dates can be really fun, but make sure you choose to go on one with a couple with whom you both get along. "If the four of you vibe and have fun together, then it's a great double date," Boykin says. "Research actually shows that double dating can be good for your relationship because it often sparks deeper and more meaningful conversation than when we go out alone."
35. Have Sunday brunch.
"A double date over brunch or dinner is a great, simple way to connect with friends and each other," Boykin says.
36. Go see a play.
37. Watch a sporting event.
38. Take in some culture.
"A gallery opening, museum or lecture can provide fodder for your double date conversation," Boykin says.
39. Run a race or go to a charity event.
Anniversary Date Ideas.
When you're planning an anniversary date, think of doing something special and celebratory—and reflecting on your relationship a bit. "Couples should plan a date that reflects their interests and history together," Boykin says. "Some of my favorite anniversary date night ideas are really low-key but nostalgic."
40. See a band.
Have "a night out listening to a local band that plays covers of your favorite artist or a band you saw together early in your relationship," Boykin says.
41. Relive your first date.
Go back to the restaurant or coffee shop where you had your first date. Before you go home, consider re-creating your first kiss too.
42. Relive the wedding, if you're married.
"A double date with your maid of honor and best man or another favorite couple can be a really great way to share your love and memories," Boykin says.
43. Plan a staycation.
Take the whole weekend to celebrate this special occasion. Stay in a swank hotel, get drinks at the hottest new bar, see a show and have fun!
44. Start a new tradition.
"I encourage couples to use their anniversary as a time to create special rituals too," Boykin says. "Take a selfie every year and add it to the back of your wedding album, or take turns surprising each other with unexpected adventures. After all, what is marriage if not an unexpected adventure together?"
Spring Date Ideas.
There's nothing like sunshine and freshly-bloomed flowers to ignite your romance. Consider these date night ideas the next time spring rolls around.

50. Go to a local fair or festival.
How fun is it to play fair games, eat cotton candy and ride a ferris wheel?

"Music festivals are particularly great if you get your dance on," Boykin says. "The physical contact combined with the emotion of music and the joy of being outdoors can be a catalyst for a lot of fun and intimacy during and after the date."
52. Take a road trip.
"The potential for you to do something spontaneous and find an adventure is a great way to bring that sense of newness back to your relationship," Boykin says. "Road trips also encourage you to be collaborative with each other as you plan where to go and how to get there."
53. Go on a motorcycle ride.
"Not everyone has access to or a desire to ride a motorcycle, but if you do, I highly recommend it," Boykin says. "The added level of physical closeness and trust involved can turn a casual afternoon into a very romantic experience without much effort."
54. Hike, mini golf, bike, walk the dog or do something else outdoorsy!
"Outdoor activities can all bring out a more playful and easygoing side to your personality," Boykin says. "The less you have to think about what to say or what to do next, the more fun you'll have."

"Dating, whether it's your 15th or 150th [date], is one of the easiest and most effective ways to keep your relationship healthy and long-lasting," Bokin says. "Dating gives you opportunity to nurture intimacy, practice communication, demonstrate commitment and create a meaningful history together. These elements are foundational to any quality relationship, be it dating or marriage. 100 Cute Date Ideas so You Never Get Bored Again.
Dinner and a movie who? These cute date ideas have you covered.
Look, we get it. Life is hard enough as it is. You commute to work and try not to stress about the day ahead, you get through the grind (and whatever that entails), you commute back home, and then you've got to figure out the whole dinner situation before you fall asleep and do it all over again. If there are kids in the mix, that's a whole other level of complication. Lather, rinse, repeat until the weekend, when you can finally get all of the stuff done that you couldn't tackle during the week. And if you're really lucky, you've got someone who loves you and wants to hang out somewhere in there. Who's got the time — or the mental and emotional capacity — to plan a fun and exciting date night with all of the demands of modern life? No one, that's who. Except us. We've gathered a list of our favorite date ideas, for every kind of couple.
Try a new restaurant. If you've got the menu just about memorized at your favorite feed bag, check out someplace new. Pretend you're restaurant critics and pick apart the food — not your partner, for a change. Play tourist in your hometown. When was the last time you took advantage of the things everyone always wants to see when they visit? Probably the last time you had out-of-town guests, that's when. Take an afternoon or an evening and hit up your local landmarks or must-see attractions and fall in love with your locale all over again. Make a fun new recipe. Even if you're not much of a cook, trying out a new dish can result in lots of laughs. Not to mention, you get to eat the fruits of your labor. Go on a picnic. If it's nice outside, there's nothing more romantic than packing up some al fresco food and bev, spreading it on a blanket, and enjoying the great outdoors. If it's not, do the same in your living room. Take a hike. Something about getting your blood pumping while exploring nature really gets the heart going in other ways, if you know what we mean. Hit the beach. Sun, sand, surf, and lots of skin. Come up with a better afternoon. We dare you. Go skiing. Not beach weather? Hit the slopes instead. If you don't get hot cocoa afterward, it didn't count. Play a board game. Drag out the classics or try a brand new one, for a healthy dose of competition. Throw a casino night . If they call you Lady Luck, see if your partner can roll snake eyes and win your heart. That, or play cards with that week's chore list on the line. Build a campfire. Ignite the flames of passion in a Smoky-approved way by gathering around a campfire in your backyard. If your municipality doesn't allow fires, huddle by the fireplace instead or even make s'mores in the microwave. Have a spa night. Hit up the drugstore for face masks, mani-pedi supplies, and massage oil for a DIY pampering sesh that will improve your bond and your skin. Take a day trip. Hop in your car and see where a tank of gas can get you. Even checking out the next town over can feel like an adventure, especially when you're doing it with your favorite person. Go grocery shopping together. Need eggs and bread? Turn a boring chore into a fun couple activity. Split your list in half and race to see who can finish it first, or just wander the aisles hand-in-hand. Learn a new skill. You don't need to invest in a lot of fancy equipment to try something new. Give origami, drawing, or even card tricks a shot. You'll love bonding over how bad you both are, at first. Play hide 'n seek. It's not just for kids anymore. Look through old photos. Pull out the photo albums and get ready for an awwww-fest. Share stories of your childhoods and your awkward teen years to learn something new about your sweetheart and grow to love them even more. Go antique hunting. You'll be amazed what kinds of gems you can find at an antique store, not to mention the creepy AF tchotchkes you'll run into. Take a dance class. Even (or especially!) if you have two left feet, taking a dance class can make a unique date. You'll be the talk of the dance floor at the next wedding or party when you bust a move. Volunteer together. Sign up to serve at a soup kitchen, a book drive, or other local initiative to make a difference in your community and see how hot your honey looks when helping others. Visit the zoo or aquarium. Come on, even fish are cute. Show your sensitive side and squee over some new fuzzy or finned friends. Read each other romance novels. Grab some steamy reading from your local library or used book store and take turns reading to each other. You'll be in the mood before you can say "once upon a time." Arrange a scavenger hunt. Bonus points if you create one that recreates your first date and all of your special spots.

Awesome First Date Ideas for Any Occasion Bad First Date Ideas You Should Ditch Conclusion.
Awesome First Date Ideas for Any Occasion.
How you plan your first date depends on you and your date’s interests. Of course, you wouldn’t want a boring first date—you should plan the date which both of you would enjoy.
Likewise, you should get the most out of the date activity that you plan. You should get to know the other person on your first date to see if there’s potential for a relationship. Lastly, your date shall depend on how much you’re willing to spend.
Here are 20 different date ideas which are categorized depending on how you want your first date to be:
Slow & Romantic: Dates That Can Make Your Date Swoon.
1. Have a picnic.
Before you decide to have a picnic, you first need to check the weather on the day you’re planning to have your first date. If the prediction says it’s going to rain, it’s better to reschedule or prepare for another date idea. If all is clear with the weather, next is to find a beautiful, nearby park where people actually do picnics.
Go to your local grocery store or farmer’s market to buy the ingredients of the meal you are going to prepare. A picnic is a great first idea because it's not too expensive, but it isn't cheap either. The setting is perfect for a nice getting-to-know-you conversation.
With that, don't forget to bring a nice bottle of wine (and the wine glasses) to help loosen your inhibitions. A note: you don’t need a wooden basket — you can use any bag to carry everything as long as you handle it with care!
Pro-Tip: Add something special to it. You could, for example, both agree on wearing something extra fancy or sophisticated. That will make a date extra funny when you're sitting at a park in between all those "ordinary" people.
2. Go to a scenic point.
Especially if you live in a city where scenic points are near and accessible, spending the day sightseeing is a great way to get to know someone.
Not only will you have a lot of time to talk during the drive, but once you get there, the scenery would inevitably evoke calm and peaceful feelings that could open up your date’s heart to you. You may get to see deeper than what meets the eye.
After sightseeing, you could end the date with a nice meal nearby and have a glass of wine before the ride home.

3. Relax on a spa.
This could be an unlikely first date idea, but if you and your date are both into wellness and relaxation, then a spa trip could be a great one!
Most spas offer packages for couples, which intends for the couple to have a fantastic time together. Usually, the couple is booked for different activities together, which allows them to relax and talk at an intimate space.
There are only two things that can happen here: either you get closer or awkwardness would fill the air. At least, it’s clear what you should do next!
4. Visit a flea market.
Local flea markets are good places to spend the first date especially during the weekend. Flea markets are often lively with people, activities, and good finds.
To make things more fun, you can come up with a list of items to find for a scavenger hunt. Define a really tight budget, and see how each of you can get creative with it.
5. Look at the stars at a planetarium.
Go to a nearby planetarium that allows visitors to stargaze freely. You don’t need to know all the constellations — just admire the stars with your date. Stargazing is equally romantic with watching the sunrise together.
Exciting & Adventurous: Dates That Pump Up The Adrenaline.
1. Try the extreme rides at an amusement park.
Extreme rides at a theme park is always a fun idea, especially if you or your date is scared to try them! It gives you an adrenaline rush which only sends off happy vibes.

2. Explore your city like a tourist.
Make an itinerary for visiting some of the famous tourist spots in your city. If you’re not familiar, you could search the Internet for some of these spots. You could also rent a bike to ride around town if these spots are approximate with each other.
This first date idea is not just fun and exciting, but could also be a learning experience for both of you. You could see your city in a totally new light — possibly learning the rich history behind some of the tourist spots.
3. Go on a hike.
If you both like the outdoors, you can ask your date if he or she is game to hike somewhere nearby your location. It’s important that you and your date are not beginner hikers!
You should be able to pick a safe point where you no longer need a guide. Go somewhere where one of you have already hiked before. Nothing is more romantic than sitting side by side, watching the sunrise together.
4. Release your inner competitiveness at an arcade.
Experience the innocence of being a kid again and have a friendly competition at your local arcade. Try the different games from racing to Pac-man, all the way to scoring hoops in the basketball section.
Keep tabs on who wins which games and tally the score at the end. To make things even more fun, state a bet or agree that the loser has to do a consequence!
5. Go on a road trip.
If you and your date are both free-spirited, you can just hop in the car and go for a ride with or without a destination. Sometimes, a good old road trip with good music is the only thing you need to get to know the other person. Spontaneity can bring out the soul of a person and can make you see if you connect.
Fun & Cute: Dates That Bring Giggles Out.
1. Try scoring a strike at a bowling alley.
A date to the bowling alley is very casual with a big chance of intimacy. Sign up for a one-on-one game and see who scores a strike first.

3. Jump on an indoor trampoline park.
Trampoline parks are not just for kids. It could be fun for adults, too. Indoor trampoline parks hold a lot of fun events for adults like zero gravity dance party or an exercise class. Some also have games such as basketball and dodgeball.

4. Conquer the walls of rock climbing.
Even if neither of you knows how to climb walls, that’s okay! That will even be more fun for both of you. You could have a friendly competition on who gets to climb the top first.
Make things even more exciting by deciding on a prize for the winner and a consequence for the loser.
5. Meet for breakfast and dress as if you were in the 50s.
If you want to stray away from the cliche, why not try and set up a breakfast date in 1951? You can ask your date to meet you at early morning, dressed in a pastel dress or a popped collar for men.
Speak in formal languages, and if you're a woman, try to be as coy as possible. If you could, try to go to a similar themed mom and pop, where every nook is delightful to be photographed.
Chic & Fancy: Dates That Show Off Your Culture and Money.
1. Get a reservation in an expensive restaurant.
Dinner date in a fancy restaurant can either be the best idea or the worst. Some people don’t like to be watched when they’re eating; it can make them self-conscious. However, if none of you mind an intimate dinner, this can be an excellent place to get to know each other.
Most fine dining restaurants have a long line of a waiting list, so it’s better to get a reservation as soon as possible if you don’t have connections.
2. Look over the city through a helicopter.
Yes, you can rent a helicopter if you don’t own one! Seeing the city through a bird’s eye view would surely make your date squeal. It’s a thrilling experience, and for sure he or she would definitely have fun. Wouldn’t you want to see the awe from his or her eyes and smile from his or her lips?

You could also learn more about how wines are made and what flavors exist in each type of wine. Not only will you have an enjoyable time, but you will also learn a thing or two.
4. Visit a museum or an art gallery.
If you want to have an intellectual, cultural date, you could tour museums or art galleries, and feel the essence of the paintings with your date.
Especially if you are both into art and philosophy, you could share your knowledge and opinions about specific pieces. Usually, sharing intellectual stuff would make you realize if you and your date are in the same wavelength, which is very important in a relationship.
5. Go to an art exhibit opening.
Nothing is more chic and fancy than attending an art exhibit opening. At these occasions, you are dressed to impress, and there’s free-flowing wine. You get to meet with the artists and possibly bid on a piece you are really fond of.

Chill & Non-costly: Nice Dates That Don’t Empty the Wallets.
1. Have a stroll when the sun sets.
Choose a place where the breeze is cool and fresh, and the orange glow of the sunset basks in your skin. It can be by the beach, along with the coast, or the boardwalk along the pier. This wouldn’t cost a dime, but the quality time you get is undeniably precious.
2. Drink a cooler by the water.
This date idea can be connected to the one above if you choose to have a sunset stroll by the beach. Before your stroll, you could first chill on a beach mat and have some drinks.
You could also have a picnic by the lake or by the riverside. Get a picnic mat and prepare ahead by mixing some cocktails stored in a thermal jug. You could even go for a quick swim if the temperature permits!
3. Tour a botanical garden.
Some cities have large botanical gardens that are free to visit and spend time in. Botanical gardens usually have spaces for a picnic, an area for outdoor activities, park animals, and lots and lots of plants and flowers. Bad First Date Ideas You Should Ditch.
If there are good first date ideas, there are also ideas that you best skip pondering on. These date ideas are counterproductive to the purpose of a first date which is to get to know the other person. Here is a short list of bad first date ideas:
1. Going to the movies.
This is probably one of the most popular first date activities, as it does not require much thought and preparation. But really, how could you get to know the other person when you need to keep mouths shut for almost two hours? Unless of course, you are both movie buffs and the post-processing of the movie in some restaurant can make up for it.
2. Attending a concert.
As mentioned above, the point of a first date is getting to know your date. If you’re at a concert (even if you both like the artist), it’s impossible to get to know one another, unless you are willing to scream over the loud music or the screaming fans. If you are, expect to lose your voice the following day.
3. Partying at a club.
This is a terrible idea. The club is one of the places where you meet new people, not bring one you want to get to know more. Bringing your date to a club opens up the opportunities for him or her to find other date prospects. Also, if you’re alcohol tolerance is low, you wouldn’t want your date to take care of you when you get drunk. This could turn him or her off, or could possibly lead to a one night stand instead of a relationship.
4. Group activities with your friends.
Never bring your date to a gathering with your friends on a first date! Your date doesn’t need to meet your friends at this point in the relationship. It would be awkward not just for your date, but for your friends, too.
5. Netflix & Chill.
If you decide to have your first date at home, it could send a signal to your date that all you want is to get laid. So ditch the Netflix for the meantime, you can have that when you’ve established your intentions well enough.
