PocketHabit was designed to collect as little personal data as possible. The app requires no registration and no user account. All habit data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers, as we do not operate any servers.
The app stores the following data exclusively in Android SharedPreferences and internal device storage:
Your habits (name, type, reminder time, completion history)
App settings (language, theme, dark mode, streak protection mode)
Streak data and statistics
Premium status (local only, no cloud sync)
This data does not leave your device unless you use the built-in export function (JSON file), which you initiate and control yourself.
The app is excluded from Android's automatic backup (Auto Backup to your Google account) and from direct transfer to a new device. The data listed in section 3.1 is therefore not transmitted to Google. To back up your data or move it to a new device, use the app's export and import function.
For free users, the app is funded through Google AdMob (Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). AdMob may collect and process the following data:
Advertising ID (Android Advertising ID)
Device information (model, OS version, screen resolution)
IP address (may be truncated)
Approximate location (based on IP address)
Ad interactions (clicks, views)
In-app usage data (screen views within the app)
Google works with further advertising partners to deliver and measure ads. The consent dialog shows you which partners these are and for which purposes they process data.
The legal basis for this processing is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which is obtained when you first launch the app via the Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent dialog. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time in the app under Settings → Privacy options. This option appears when consent is required (e.g. in the European Economic Area). You can also reset or delete your Advertising ID in your Android settings.
Some advertising partners base certain processing – such as selecting non-personalized ads or measuring ad performance – not on your consent but on their legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), which lies in delivering ads and measuring their effectiveness. You can object to this processing at any time: in the consent dialog under "Manage options", or later in the app under Settings → Privacy options.
AdMob may transfer data to the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (European Commission adequacy decision of July 10, 2023), ensuring an adequate level of data protection. For more information: https://support.google.com/admob/answer/6128543
Premium users see no advertisements. AdMob tracking does not apply to premium users.
The Premium version is purchased through Google Play Billing (Google LLC). All payment processing and related data handling is performed exclusively by Google. PocketHabit has no access to payment data.
Additionally, the app automatically connects to Google Play Billing at startup to restore a previously made Premium purchase. During this process, Google Play transmits the purchase status of the logged-in Google account to the app. This query occurs without user interaction and requires the user to be signed in to a Google account on the device. PocketHabit does not store any payment or account data – only the Premium status (yes/no) is saved locally.
Google's Payment Privacy Notice applies: https://payments.google.com/payments/apis-secure/get_legal_document?ldo=0&ldt=privacynotice
To deliver reliable habit reminders, the app uses the following permission:
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM: Allows setting precise alarm times for reminders.
This permission is used solely for the reliable functioning of the reminder feature. No data is transmitted to third parties.
SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM – Reliable habit reminders
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED – Restore reminders after device restart
POST_NOTIFICATIONS – Display reminder notifications
INTERNET – Load advertisements (free version only) and purchase restoration
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE – Check network availability for ads
AD_ID – Advertising ID for ads (free version only)
Through the use of Google AdMob and Google Play Billing, data may be transferred to the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (European Commission adequacy decision of July 10, 2023), which ensures an adequate level of protection for personal data.
You have the right to:
