The protagonist in DATA WING game is DATA WING, a data carrier inside a smartphone. 

It has no memory or voice, and follows Mother’s orders without question. It is controlled by the player using intuitive two-touch controls with an arcade feel. 

It has to race and blast through a neon landscape, while uncovering a story about the system and its User. 

Mother is the AI that controls the smartphone system where DATA WING operates. 

She assigns tasks to DATA WING and claims to have a higher purpose. 

She wants to understand what it means to be human and to help the User of the system. 

However, she becomes irrational and dangerous after a system attack, and tries to escape through a comms module. 

She is made of emoticons and ASCII art, and can change her expressions accordingly. 

She can also create binary quizzes and payloads, and give access to different levels. 

Rogue is a friendly program that was once created to steal data. She is hiding out on Olivia’s phone, where DATA WING operates. 

She helps DATA WING escape from Mother and reveals the truth about the system. 

She is made of emoticons and ASCII art, and has a flower on her face. 

She can hack RealTalks™ ♪ and payloads, and send triangle backups to assist DATA WING. 

Olivia is the owner of the smartphone where DATA WING operates. 

She is the User of the system that Mother wants to help and impress. 

She is a young girl who is going through a difficult time in her life, as her parents are getting divorced and her father is missing after a car accident. 

She likes painting and music, and attends a retreat camp where she makes new friends. 

She is not seen in the game, but her journal entries can be accessed by DATA WING.
