In our modern interconnected world, it has become ever more important to critically understand the approaches and philosophies behind data and analysis techniques.
This workshop will build on your understanding as an educator and professional in science, starting with baseline ideas such as hypothesis testing, error analysis, and understanding scientific claims in the context of the Nature of Science and Ways of Thinking and Doing science.
We then re-frame these for a data-saturated world, where students are inundated with a flood of numbers, and dig into the underlying understandings and techniques that will allow teachers and students to make sense of the numbers and claims they see in the classroom, lab, and daily life.
