QA TestID Coverage Scanner
Last updated: March 2026
QA TestID Coverage Scanner (“the Extension”) is a Chrome browser extension designed to help developers and QA engineers identify missing data-testid attributes and measure test automation coverage on webpages.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension accesses, how it is processed, and how user privacy is protected.
The Extension:
Does not collect personal data
Does not transmit data to external servers
Does not sell or share data
Does not track users
Does not use analytics
Does not use advertising
Does not use remote code
All functionality operates locally within the user’s browser.
The Extension does not collect, store, or process:
Personally identifiable information (name, email, address, etc.)
Health information
Financial or payment information
Authentication credentials (passwords, tokens, PINs)
Personal communications (emails, messages)
Location data (IP address, GPS)
Web browsing history
User activity monitoring data
Keystrokes or input tracking
The Extension analyzes the Document Object Model (DOM) of the currently active webpage only after the user manually activates the extension.
This access is required to:
Identify elements missing data-testid attributes
Calculate coverage metrics
Generate selectors (CSS/XPath)
Highlight elements visually for the user
Important:
The Extension processes webpage content locally in the browser.
Webpage data is not transmitted to any external server.
Webpage data is not stored outside of the current browser session.
No persistent copy of website content is retained.
The Extension uses Chrome’s storage API solely to store user interface preferences, such as:
Selected theme (light or dark mode)
No webpage content, personal data, or browsing data is stored.
The Extension:
Does not share data with third parties
Does not sell data
Does not transfer data to advertisers
Does not use data for profiling
Does not use data for marketing purposes
The Extension does not:
Load remote scripts
Execute remote code
Use external APIs
Use analytics platforms
Use tracking services
All code required for operation is packaged within the extension itself.
Because the Extension does not collect or transmit user data, there is no centralized data storage and no external data processing. All analysis occurs locally within the user’s browser environment.
The Extension is a developer tool and is not intended for use by children. The Extension does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children under the age of 13.
If the Extension’s functionality changes in a way that affects data usage, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly. The updated version will reflect a revised “Last updated” date.
