Long- and Short-Term Issues

We're interested in addressing the societal issues posed by AI now and deep into the future. Long- and short-term AI issues are traditionally viewed as separate. We're think that more effort needs to be done to create connections between the problems. Short term issues, such as algorithmic bias, are becoming fairly well known. Long term risks are taken seriously by a smaller but growing number of researchers and policymakers. A short video featuring Max Tegmark on longer term AI risks is below.
