Column charts use bars of varying lengths to indicate amount. The bars are use different colors and/or patterns to indicate the different types of data that they represent, and they run vertically across the chart.
Do the following:
➤ Open your "Expenses" spreadsheet
➤ Click on the Add Sheet icon (+) at the bottom of the "Expenses" spreadsheet to enter the data for your column chart in a new Sheet.
➤ Enter the following headings for columns A, B, and C respectively: Month, General, Business
➤ Enter the months Jan - Sept in Column A, beginning in cell A2 through A10
➤ Enter the following data in Column B, beginning in cell B2: 225, 747, 100, 987, 45, 789, 142, 55, 640
➤ Enter the following data in Column C, beginning in cell C2: 12, 748, 422, 991, 211, 1000, 345, 881, 33
Do the following:
➤ Select the data to use for the chart (cells A1:C10)
➤ Click the Insert >> Chart from the menu bar.
A default suggested chart and the Chart editor will appear.
➤ From the Chart editor, click the Chart type dropdown menu and select the Column chart option.
➤ Select the Customize tab from the Chart Editor and expand the Chart & axis titles section.
➤ Enter the Chart Title as: Hotel Registration.
➤ Finally, move the chart to its own spreadsheet.
