Laboratory of Single Molecule Biophysics and Virology
Our research is primarily focused on molecular level understanding of the entry, replication processes of viral pathogens and their interaction with host immune system for escaping the host. We study these dynamic processes at the level of single macromolecules and molecular complexes, using highly interdisciplinary approach. Our experimental techniques include single molecule imaging and manipulation techniques, such as single molecule fluorescence energy transfer (smFRET) imaging microcopy, laser-based optical traps ("optical tweezers") for detection of displacements at nanometer (nM) level and and measurements of forces at piconewton (pN) level. Students in our lab will work on all aspects of research: development of biological systems, design single molecule assay, design and construction of instrumentation, and quantitative analysis and modeling of data. Interested students and postdocs with backgrounds in biology, physics, chemistry, engineering or related fields are welcome to contact Dibyendu.
