Panel sessions will be 1 hour in length and involve four hospital-based panelists giving 5-7-minute presentations. Presentations will be followed by 30 minutes of discussion, where the full panel will field questions from the audience. There will be four panel discussions on the following topics:
Presenters will speak to how their institution has structured and organized their data so that it is available for analysis and reporting, as well as the strengths, challenges and lessons learned from their approach.
Presenters will discuss the business intelligence (BI) tools used by their institution for data visualization. They will speak to what they’ve liked/disliked about the tools and any lessons learned. Presenters are strongly encouraged to demo features of the BI tool for the audience.
This panel will centre on briefly describing data governance processes, as well as challenges and successes that different hospitals have encountered in their approach to data governance and creating a data culture at their institution. Presenters will speak to what has worked, what has not, and visions for the future.
Presenters will discuss how they’ve already applied advanced analytics at their institution, or what they are planning to do with advanced analytics (e.g. machine learning, prediction models, multivariable modeling, etc.). Presenters are encouraged to use examples where advanced analytics have been incorporated into clinical or management decision-making with subsequent outcomes. Challenges and solutions in incorporating advanced analytics into clinical and/or management decision-making will be highlighted.
Each breakout sessions is capped at 20 participants and is an hour in duration. Breakout session format is at the discretion of the session leader. Breakout session topics include:
This breakout session will focus on data visualization principles and will showcase dashboards that have proven to be highly utilized and effective. Topics will include, but are not limited to how dashboards can impact hospital efficiency and patient care and common pitfalls to avoid.
The breakout session will cover methods and tools to extract and interpret unstructured text notes for use in analyses. Case study examples will be provided.
This breakout session will focus in on models of data governance and access, as well as the implementation of these models that target data access. Discussion will also extend to data privacy, security and ethical considerations when it comes to building and operationalizing data infrastructure.
This session will provide a high level overview of different advanced analytic methods and how they can be applied in a hospital setting. The session will unpack buzzwords such as machine learning, prediction models and artificial intelligence and will discuss who you need on your team to apply these methods.
