Hello! My name is Emma Capsello and I'm the creator of this page and wanted to give a little in sight on me! I have danced for 15 years of my life and this show has been a great part of my experience in dance. Along with dance I have taken a strong interest in my schooling, throughout my highschool years I have been enrolled in AP and SUPA courses, and have enjoyed learning from a higher and faster curriculum. I am also in the process of earning my seal of biliteracy in Spanish in order to prepare myself to be able to further myself into international world.
I performed in Dasher's Magical Gift for 4 seasons, starting as an elf and moving through the cast from penguin to big reindeer! The time I spent in this show and working with this cast and crew will follow me throughout my experiences in life. Dasher was an experience I will cherish forever, the things we learned about how life in a theater works and how to act in a performance setting will impact us throughout our lives as we go through highschool and onto college and the workforce. Throughout the bonds we created as a cast and the hardships of putting on such a big show we learned how to work together at such a prime time in our lives that I believe that it will impact us forever.
Through the creation of this site I have been able to revisit many of my favorite memories of this production! The process of learning and preparing the show every year to be stage ready allows us as dancers to be able to connect to our fellow cast mates in a way I had never experienced in a different show. This experience has been able to show me from a young age how to act professionally while also enjoying what you are doing. This show has taught me how to manage time under a fast moving schedule, how to take care of myself throughout a physically rigorous to prevent injury, and how to create relations with people in all parts of the crew from cast members to tech crew or security. I found that after just one season of this show the independence I learned affect me and my fellow cast members in many different aspects, and was reflected when we went to perform in our other shows throughout the year.
Throughout the years of performing this show, and during covid fighting for it to come back to stage has shown me how to take ownership of the things I have loved doing and fighting to be able to continue participating in them. By growing my own ability to be independent in a professional setting I have been able to integrate into other professional settings, like my part time jobs as a lifeguard and at an ice cream stand, with already having experience pulling my weight in a team. This show has also allowed me to be able to work with cast or crew members that are in college and have allowed me to learn more about higher education from their first hand experiences.
The work and dedication you have to put in on your own time to learn the show has also prepared me for more professional based deadlines. Through going over steps and learning lines on my own I have been able to set up my own way of studying and enforcing new things I have learned. All of these skills that this show has helped me foster into learning habits has prepared me for harder courses in high school, and how to handle a more free schedule when I get to college.
Being able to give back to my community through a show that so many people can connect to, whether through the holiday story or through the motifs shown through the story, is such an amazing way to give back to the area that I grew up in. This show has taught many of us what to expect once we enter higher education or the work force, and how to be able to integrate ourselves into a setting that is different from our classrooms!
