This project requires me to create a tabloid-sized (11" x 17") newspaper page layout using desktop publishing software, following these steps:

1. Take a photo of an existing newspaper page (from Chicago Tribune, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, etc.) using my phone, or download an image if necessary

2. Create a similar layout in either portrait or landscape orientation

3. Build my layout based on the reference photo

This assignment demonstrates how desktop publishing software offers more powerful layout capabilities than basic word processing, particularly for professional print and web output.

This assignment requires me to create a professional letterhead using my previously designed logo, applying print production concepts including:

1. Proper paper size selection

2. Raster/vector image placement

3. Font management and text styling

4. Spot color implementation

5. Bleed settings and printer marks

6. Print-ready file packaging

 Creating this letterhead helped me understand and demonstrate my understanding of professional print design workflow, from properly implementing bleeds and printer marks to managing spot colors and creating print-ready packages that meet commercial printing standards. I gained practical experience with text formatting, appropriate image placement, and the technical requirements necessary to prepare files that will reproduce accurately when sent to a print vendor.
