I have confirmed, using chrome remote desktop, that search+another_key does the same as CMD+another_key while remote-connected to my mac-book pro over home WiFi. I also noted that if I want to enter two search+another_key presses sequentially, I must release and repress the search key after each instance

Chrome remote desktop is like VNC or like Windows remote desktop.. but implemented by Google. It lets you view a computer remotely. The computer to be viewed has to run some software and then it can be viewed from another computer from the chrome "web browser". Neither computer has to run any server, so no port forwarding is necessary at the NAPT router.

e.g. the computer you're connected from has a keyboard with the windows key on it, but if you do e.g. winkey+R on the local computer, then it brings up the run dialog on the local computer.. When I want it to be the case that doing winkey+R on the local computer's keyboard, brings up the run dialog box on the remote computer.

Chrome Remote Desktop is remote desktop software that is configured through a Chrome extension inside of Chrome the browser. It installs a background service (named Chrome Remote Desktop Service on Windows) to transmit keyboard/mouse input from one computer and video from the other.

While there is a multitude of software options that allow for distant connections to be made to electronics to enable management features, Chrome Remote Desktop is one of the best options as the developers are Google. Ensure the security of data and safety of location information with this title rather than a riskier one. Control the screen of a remote desktop with a separate computer, phone, or tablet to retrieve files, edit content, begin downloads, etc.

Its a bug for the chrome remote desktop installer not creating its own config folder. So simply create it via mkdir ~/.config/chrome-remote-desktop, refresh your chrome, and the "turn on" section will show up.

I also removed the connection and tried to set the connection multiple times but did not work. I can, however, remotely access my Windows computer from my Ubuntu computer without any problem.I have seen that some people had this problem too but the questions are mostly addressed to Windows machines and I cannot find much information about using this tool in Linux (or Windows - Linux in my case)( -remote-desktop-is-showing-our-workstations-as-offline-but-they-aren-t-please-help?hl=en).

However, Google like any other big tech companies take privacy breaches seriously as it will impact their public relations & ultimately stock price. By using Google remote desktop you agree to their terms/conditions. Here is an excerpt from their privacy policy:

I'm having the same question. I have a mini pc and a mini router that is plugged in via ethernet. However, when I connect my ipad/computer to the mini router's wifi network, it still wont connect to the mini pc without internet. it needs internet to do remote desktop. I'm so confused how to use remote desktop to connect to this mini router without internet

Chrome Remote Desktop is a remote desktop software tool, developed by Google, that allows a user to remotely control another computer's desktop through a proprietary protocol also developed by Google, internally called Chromoting.[2][3] The protocol transmits the keyboard and mouse events from the client to the server, relaying the graphical screen updates back in the other direction over a computer network. This feature, therefore, consists of a server component for the host computer, and a client component on the computer accessing the remote server. Chrome Remote Desktop uses a unique protocol, as opposed to using the common Remote Desktop Protocol (developed by Microsoft[4]).

The Chrome Remote Desktop client was originally a Chrome extension from the Chrome Web Store requiring Google Chrome; the extension is deprecated, and a web portal is available at remotedesktop.google.com. The browser must support WebRTC and other unspecified "modern web platform features".[5] The client software is also available on Android[6] and iOS.[7]

If you want to be able to access your own computer from another desktop or mobile device, start by opening up Chrome on the host computer (or downloading and installing Chrome, if you're using a Windows, Mac, or Linux system that somehow doesn't already have it). Within Chrome, navigate to Google's Chrome Remote Desktop web app and click the circular blue arrow icon inside the box labeled "Set up remote access." (If you see a blue button labeled "Turn On" instead of a blue arrow, congratulations: You're one step ahead! Skip the next paragraph, and you'll be back on track.)

If you ever want to disable remote connections, just go back to remotedesktop.google.com/access or click the Chrome Remote Desktop icon to the right of your browser's address bar. You can then click the trash can icon alongside your computer's name to remove it from the app. Alternatively, you can simply uninstall the app altogether by right-clicking its icon and selecting "Remove from Chrome."

Once you have the access code and are ready to connect, simply go to remotedesktop.google.com/support within Chrome on any other computer. Enter the access code in the "Give Support" box and then click the "Connect" button to begin.

OK, so I might be posting this in the wrong section of the forums, but I am having issues with Minecraft through the Chrome Remote Desktop app. So there's this thing where even in fullscreen mode (on chrome remote desktop), your cursor won't teleport. Minecraft uses that method where it keeps teleporting your cursor to the center of the window so that you can move your cursor without reaching a point where you can't move your cursor anymore, but whenever I try to play Minecraft through Chrome Remote Desktop, it won't teleport my cursor back so I basically cannot stop moving the direction I'm pointed, because Minecraft thinks I keep moving my cursor there, but in reality, my cursor doesn't teleport back. Any help?

I am trying to connect to my office computer using Chrome Remote Desktop. I can connect fine using my iphone, both on 4G and my home wifi. When i try to use my Macbook to connect using wifi it does not work and i get an error saying 'The remote computer is offline'. If i turn off my wifi and hotspot my phone to my macbook and then try connect to the remote desktop it works and i can get in. The issue seems to be my macbook. Could there be some sort of permissions on my mac not allowing a connection to a remote computer? Please assist

If you've never tried this, it may sound odd -- but it works quite well. The Windows PC runs a remote-connectivity app that stays active while you're away; the Chromebook connects to that app and accesses the remote Windows desktop inside your browser, where you can run programs, update settings or whatever. For all intents and purposes, it's like you're sitting in front of your Windows machine -- while you're in front of your Chromebook.

I have noticed the exact same thing and found this thread while searching. For me, I have upgraded a VM on a server to Windows 11. The remote desktop performance, especially logging in is slow compared to Windows 10. I have 10G fiber between my workstation and the server with all the VMs also at 10G speeds. I can transfer files quickly like normal between the two and access it fine through other services. However, my login takes 10 seconds or more on Windows 11, where my Windows 10 VMs still connect nearly instantly. It is also noticeably slower on general usage with a delay when I click on things which I didn't have before. I also installed Win 11 on a standalone PC, and I'm having the same issues. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

As strange as it may seem, installing the UWP version of the remote desktop client from Microsoft Store made the legacy version work fine. At least it has been working without any annoying lag for the last few hours. Before, it was barely usable, blocking for 1-2-3 seconds after almost every mouse click or keyboard action.

Sometimes we just need help with our computers. And with so many people still working remotely, that help can become a challenge. This is especially so for those employees using the likes of Chromebooks or other desktops that might not support TeamViewer or AnyDesk.

Click SHARE and the remote screen will be shared with the local user. At this point, you can see everything that happens on the remote desktop, so you can walk the end-user through resolving their issues.

Both remote assistance tools worked as advertised for us. They have a user-friendly interface that made it possible to locate all of their features. Image scaling was smooth with both apps and they provide easy connectivity for remote desktops and mobile devices.

We hope this article has helped demystify the qualities of Microsoft RDP and Chrome Remote Desktop. We also hope readers feel empowered by the information shared, and are better equipped to choose the remote desktop software ideal for them. be457b7860
