Terry Cunningham and the Cunningham Group originated the software in 1984.[2] Crystal Services Inc. marketed the product[3] (originally called "Quik Reports") when they could not find a suitable commercial report writer for an accounting software they developed add-on products for, which was ACCPAC Plus for DOS (later acquired by Sage).[4] After producing versions 1.0 through 3.0, Crystal Services was acquired by Seagate Technology in 1994.[5] Crystal Services was combined with Holistic Systems to form the Information Management Group of Seagate Software, which later rebranded as Crystal Decisions and produced versions 4.0 through 9.0. Crystal Decisions was acquired in December 2003 by BusinessObjects, which produced versions 10, 11 (XI) and version 12 (2008).

Several other applications, including Microsoft Visual Studio versions 2003 through 2008, and Borland Delphi, at one time bundled an OEM version of Crystal Reports as a general purpose reporting tool.[7] Microsoft discontinued this practice and later released their own competing reporting tool, SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).[8][verification needed]

In addition, to checking what other have mentioned above, after creating a new Blank Report, under Page Setup, the paper size for me was A4 by default. When I changed it to Letter, I would get a second blank page in the Print Preview as well as when physically printing to letter paper. Presumably this is due to going over the page boundaries. I was able to reduce the magins, and make the report content fit on the page.

Crystal Reports is a popular Windows-based report writer solution that allows a developer to create reports and dashboards from a variety of data sources with a minimum of code to write. Crystal Reports is owned and developed by SAP.

As a business intelligence application for individual users or small and medium-size businesses (SMBs), SAP Crystal Reports 2020 is designed to work with databases to help users analyze and interpret important information. While users can create simple reports, the software also offers comprehensive tools needed to produce complex or specialized reports.

Crystal Reports is designed to produce reports from virtually any data source. Formulas, cross-tabs, sub-reports and conditional formatting help make sense of data and uncover important relationships that might otherwise be hidden. Data visualization tools such as geographic maps and graphs communicate information visually to help in understanding data analysis.

Crystal Reports can publish in a variety of formats including Microsoft Word and Excel, e-mail and over the Web. Advanced Web reporting allows all members of in a workgroup view and update shared reports inside a web browser.

We are currently using Crystal Reports 2013 to create reports for users to run as needed with certain parameters that they input to generate a report and from of some of the tutorials I have seen it seems that paginated reports in BI will be a good replacement(I hope). We also have many reports that are made that generate csv files and place them on a shared drive on daily intervals at different times. So here are a few questions that I have.

Because you posted in the Report Server forum which deals with the on-prem report server my answers are in that context. If you are using the powerbi.com cloud service the first answer would be different

You can only schedule paginated reports to export on a scheduled basis. You can choose whatever schedule you like and it's simple to setup, you choose any parameters you need, specify when the report needs to run and choose an output (usually either email or shared drive) and a file format. I'm not aware of any hard limit on the number of schedules, as you suggest it would come down to the capacity on your server.

Thank you for the reply! I think I was expecting the last two answers but was unsure of the first so that helps a lot, I am not looking forward to rewriting all of these reports but a new skill can be obtained out of this I guess. Thank you very much!

Crystal Reports is the campus standard for reporting and data generation from Augusta University information systems. Reports can retrieve data from Banner and other databases in bulk form to create lists and spreadsheets. Data is most often rendered in Excel format.

While you may be able to generate similar information, Crystal reports are used for the day-to-day operations of the University. Tableau and Data Warehouse are used more by the Administration as analytical and presentation tools.

Access to Crystal is gained by submitting a Systems Access Request Form to banneraccess@augusta.edu. You must specify which of your job duties require access to the information provided in the report.

Reports typically fail due to the parameter selection. Check your parameters to ensure you entered all that are required. If you are running a report from History, try running it again by clicking Schedule instead. Sometimes reports are refreshed behind the scenes and it requires you to create a newly scheduled report to run the latest version. If you continue to have problems, reach out to the Data Steward responsible for the report at banneraccess@augusta.edu.

You may schedule a report that you need daily/monthly/yearly to be recurring so that it automatically re-runs on the scheduled date/time. Use the Recurrence feature in the left hand menu of the report. Be careful to only select the dates/times needed. Reports can not be scheduled for more than 13 months in advance. You will have to submit a ticket for IT to delete the report instance if a recurrence is set up incorrectly.

As you know, data security is a priority at Augusta University. When at all possible, you should run the necessary report to view the data rather than asking someone to send or upload it as that causes more risk for a data breach.

Submit a request to the Data Steward responsible for the report by emailing banneraccess@augusta.edu. Please include the reason the addition is necessary. If approved, a ticket will be submitted to IT and you will be notified once complete.

The Documents tab is where you will search for a report, select a folder to view, and run a report. You can place frequently used reports in your My Favorites folder. You can also read alerts here as well.

Using the demo version of InstallShield 2020 Express, downloaded last month. I am looking to create a very simple installation, zero bells and whistles, for a Visual Studio 2019 Winform app using InstallShield as a project within Visual Studio. Only slightly unusual item is that the app requires both Microsoft Report Viewer and Crystal Reports for viewing a bunch of legacy reports. And this is where things go wrong:

In the 'Redistributables' section, selecting the Microsoft report viewer or Crystal Reports, I immediately get 'The download failed; make sure you are running as Administrator, and that your machine is connected to the internet. Would you like to try again?'

On one machine, it says it needs to install the SQL CLR types -- both 32 and 64 bit, along with the report viewer. The other one I just tried announced that it need only the SQL CLR installs. It seems to proceed, but for unknown reasons is download dotnetfx -- .NET Framework 1.0 SP 3. I have no idea where that comes from, other than perhaps as being required by the either the MS Report Viewer or the Crystal Reports Viewer.

I am Using Crystal Report 2008 version 12.5.0.1190 . I have Crystal rpt files and I need convert to Telerik report (trdx )files. Is there any simple way to convert and make use of crystal report in telerik report designer? Kindly please provide the steps or link to perform conversion. be457b7860
