This policy describes how the Darkroom Companion app handles data. The app is designed with your privacy in mind and in line with the GDPR and CCPA — everything you create stays on your device, it works offline and without an account, and the only thing it sends is anonymous usage statistics.
1. Data controller and contact

2. Data processing and storage
The data you create — your own recipes, chemical inventory, development history, and settings — is stored solely locally on your device, and the developer has no access to it. Your data may be backed up automatically by your operating system (iCloud on Apple, Google backup on Android) if you have it enabled; such backups are managed by Apple or Google under their own terms, not by this app.
The backup feature (export and import) uses the system share sheet or file picker only on your explicit action; without your instruction the app does not access your files.
3. Anonymous statistics, permissions, and tracking
To see which features are actually used, the app records which screens are opened and which actions are taken — starting and finishing the timer, saving a recipe, adding a log entry, exporting data, opening the Pro offer, and completing a purchase. Along with these it sends your device model, operating system and app version, language and country, a random identifier created when the app is installed, and your IP address, from which an approximate country is derived. The IP address is not stored in the reports, and the installation identifier is discarded when you uninstall the app.
The app never sends the content of your data — no recipe names, chemical names, notes, or log entries. It does not know your name or e‑mail, and it contains no advertising and no cross-app tracking; the advertising identifiers of both systems are switched off and their permissions removed.
The statistics are processed by Google LLC (Firebase Analytics) on our behalf. Servers may be located in the USA; the transfer is safeguarded by the EU‑US Data Privacy Framework. The statistics are kept for 2 months and are then deleted automatically.
Purchases of Darkroom Pro are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We never see your card number or billing details — only the fact that a purchase took place.
4. Your rights (GDPR and CCPA)
No data sale: we sell no data and never have.
Access and control: all the data you create stays on your device and is accessible anytime directly in the app.
Erasure: remove your data directly in the app, or by uninstalling the app entirely. The anonymous statistics are not linked to your identity, so individual records cannot be singled out; uninstalling discards the installation identifier and the rest expires within two months.
