Recently a graduate from MA Viking & Anglo-Saxon Studies, my academic focus has been the earliest instances of Germanic language in Britain, both runic and onomastic c.400-700AD. I hope to continue on to do a PhD in historical linguistics, focusing on how to use sociolinguistics and runology together. I'm currently an English as a foreign language teacher, TA, and tutor. I like walking in the Peak District, cuddling my ferrets, going to Quaker events, and being on twitter @jaz_higgs . I'd love to hear your thoughts on how sub-Roman Britain and early medieval England is presented in film and literature, so message me and we could collaborate together.

I got my MA in Medieval History from Durham University in 2018. My passions are late antique and early medieval Europe, with a focus on power structures and the upper echelons of society, and how they interacted with each other across the continent. I live in St Petersburg, Russia. I graduated from Moscow State Lomonosov University in 2008 with a degree in English language and literature - I wrote my thesis on Shakespeare's history plays, or rather, on the history behind these plays, as I've always been fascinated by history.Now I'm a technical support engineer and pro bono English translator by day and medieval historian by night. My main areas of interest are Gothic architecture, from its early days to modern restoration campaigns, the 13th century Montfort family, early history of the Dominican Order, and daily life in the Middle Ages. My struggle to reply to the question 'what do you do?' is one of the main reasons I wanted to get involved in this project. My interests are primarily archaeological, though language, history, anthropology and manuscript studies feature heavily. My Academic focus is the connection between individuality and material culture in the Early Medieval North. I currently work on various projects for the University of Cambridge Museums, from education and outreach to exhibition evaluation. I'm a traditional archer, mead-maker, and explorer of the outside though I've dipped my toes in pretty much everything else! Jessica Sims

Jess graduated with a BA in English studies and an MA in Viking and Anglo-Saxon studies from the University of Nottingham in 2018. A proud wiccan and feminist, her writing focuses mainly on the role of women and their power (be it physical or oral) in the Anglo-Saxon world. Jess found writing about charms and curses the most rewarding aspect of her postgraduate degree and continues to explore and analyse early medical texts today.

I have just graduated from UHI with an MLitt in Viking Studies while in 2018 I graduated from the University of Nottingham with BA Viking Studies. I’m based in Edinburgh, heritage job hunting and considering PhD applications. I’m passionate about the medieval period with a focus on death and belief.

Natalia Radziwillowicz

I graduated from the University of Nottingham's Viking Studies course in 2017 and went on to study Medieval Literatures & Cultures at the University of Edinburgh, where I graduated with a Distinction in 2018. My interests are primarily Viking-age related, with particular focus on cross-European connections and myths/rituals/religion. I'm also interested in later medieval healthcare, the writings of Dante, women's experiences, and conceptions of afterlives.
