If you're looking for hack and slash action with a touch of mystery and suspense, then Darkness Rising is the game for you. Here are some of my thoughts about the game.
The story of Darkness Rising is quite good, it's just that I don't care to tell it. I never liked adventure stories or games that had huge amounts of action, yet this one has both. The graphics and effects are quite good, especially when you compare them to other titles on the market right now. Graphics can be a little bit hard to describe, but I'll give you an example: when you're fighting demons in the game, they will break into miniature pieces and disappear for good after being killed.
Another thing I really like about the game is the sound effects and voice acting. You'll hear the characters of the game yelling and screaming, while making sounds of destruction and pain. This adds to the whole "grinding" action, as you try to kill each enemy. It adds to the adventure of playing the game as well.
One thing that disappointed me with Darkness Rising was the fact that there aren't any achievements for you to get. If you want to get them, you'll have to do them manually. There's also not much content, which is quite disappointing. If you're looking for free gems and gold, this game is not the place for you to go. For that, you might want to look somewhere else.
Overall, I'd give the game an average score for difficulty. It's got quite a bit of action, but it's not too challenging. The storyline is good but not great. Graphics are nice, but again, not something that really grabs my attention and makes me want to play more. Bottom line, this game is fun but not great.
