I Dark Ages sono stati fondati da Simone Calciolari nel 1986 e nel 1991 la band ha inciso il primo album, “Saturnalia”. Nei successivi anni il gruppo ha svolto un'intensa attività live e nel 2008 è arrivato il consolidamento della line-up con l’ingresso dei membri Angela Busato alle tastiere e del fratello Carlo Busato alla batteria. L’assetto finalmente stabile ha permesso di mettere a punto la prima parte di un concept album ambientato nell’antica Assiria dal titolo: “Teumman Part 1” pubblicato nel 2011. Particolarmente apprezzato dagli amanti del progressive metal l’album è stato accolto positivamente sia dal vecchio che dal nuovo pubblico della band. All’inizio del 2012 i Dark Ages sono di nuovo al lavoro per finalizzare l’epilogo della storia del principe Teumman che arriva con la pubblicazione di “Teumman Part 2” a fine 2013.

Il 2014 è un anno di svolta per la band che decide di portare in scena “Teumman” come una vera e propria Rock Opera. Un progetto al contempo ambizioso, impegnativo ed estremamente stimolante che ha permesso alla band di realizzare un sogno da tempo conservato nel cassetto. Nel 2017 entrano nel gruppo Roberto Roverselli alla voce e Gaetano Celotti al basso e i Dark Ages annunciano l’uscita del loro nuovo album “A Closer Look” per l'etichetta Andromeda Relix di Gianni Della Cioppa.

Nel 2022 il gruppo annuncia l’uscita del quinto album in studio Between Us ancora una volta sotto l’etichetta Andromeda Relix. Il disco viene registrato presso il Mago Studio da Maurizio “Tachy” Fracchetti, spesso definito sesto elemento della band per via del profondo legame di stima e amicizia che lo lega ai Dark Ages sino dal 2010. La distribuzione del nuovo album è affidata alla Ma.Ra.Cash Records mentre le grafiche sono state realizzate dalla tastierista Angela Busato – Kraken Promotion. Per il brano “Showdown” appare nella veste di ospite speciale il cantante Gianbattista ‘Jan’ Manenti (The Unity).

Il concept dietro a “Between Us” nasce dall’esigenza di raccontare l’esperienza di crescita dell’essere umano e di mostrare come l’individuo messo di fronte a situazioni estreme sia in grado di affrontare a viso aperto le proprie paure. Questa “favola” non presenta né personaggi né vincoli narrativi, permettendo a chiunque vi si avvicini di farne una storia propria e di dare al concept sia un significato personale, sia una morale completamente soggettiva... come del resto accade quotidianamente nella vita di tutti noi.

Dark Ages was founded in 1986 by Simone Calciolari and in 1991 the band released its first album, “Saturnalia”. In the years after the release the band had an intense stage activity but only in 2008 found a stable line-up with the entry of Angela Busato on keyboards and her brother Carlo Busato on drums.

With a core group, the band immediately began work on the first part of the concept album “Teumman – Part 1” published in 2011. Particularly appreciated by the progressive metal audience, the album was very well received by the band's growing fanbase; so much that the next year Dark Ages were back at work for “Teumman – Part 2” which was subsequently published in 2013.

2014 marked a turning point for the band with the decision to bring “Teumman” on stage as a proper Rock Opera. An ambitious and challenging project which brought to coronation a long held dream for Dark Ages.

2017 marked another significant year for the band as singer Roberto Roverselli and bassist Gaetano Celotti joined the band. Shortly thereafter the band released their fourth album “A Closer Look” with Gianni Della Cioppa’s label Andromeda Relix.

In 2022 the band announced the release of their fifth and latest studio album: “Between Us” once again in partnership with Andromeda Relix. The album was recorded at Mago Studio by Maurixio “Tachy” Fracchetti, often remarked as the 6^th member of the Dark Ages due to the deep and lasting friendship that binds him to the band since 2010. The album was distributed by Ma.Ra.Cash Records while all graphics and layouts were made by the keyboardist Angela Busato's Kraken Promotion. The track “Showdown” was recorded with guest-star singer Gianbattista “Jan” Manenti (The Unity).

The concept album “Between Us” is the result of the need to tell the story of the human condition; to show how, when facing extreme situations, a person can face their fears with determination and courage. A “fairy tale” free from any definite characters or narrative constraints that allows every listener to have the chance to build their own story and to find their own personal meaning and subjective moral. As it usually happens in life.
