I am a senior research fellow (associate professor) at the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER), University of Essex, and deputy director at the Centre for Microsimulation and Policy Analysis. I previously held post-doctoral positions at the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and European University Institute (Florence) where I completed my PhD in Social and Political Science.
My research interests centre on quantitative impact assessment of public policies and distributional issues. The topics I’m currently working on or have worked on in the past include:
intrahousehold inequalities
gender pay gap
benefit non take-up
poverty across the lifecourse
comparative analysis of welfare regimes
I have extensive experience in developing and applying research tools for fiscal incidence analysis and tax-benefit microsimulation, including EUROMOD, UKMOD, RUSMOD, and CEQ models. My recent work also includes dynamic microsimulation of life-course trajectories using the SimPaths model. I serve as a co-editor of the EUROMOD Working Paper Series.
