I am passionate about education, and continue to educate others about how to best improve their teaching practices, in addition to striving to improve my own. You can see here a podcast and video I prepared as part of my position as a Teaching Fellow for the Teaching Assistant Project at Rutgers University. The Teaching Assistant Project Fellows are chosen to leading teaching improvement programs at Rutgers.
Sometimes the best experiences and learning happen outside of the academic classroom. Whenever possible I relate coursework to what is happening in the real world. For example, one semester my Gender and Communication course and Northeastern aligned with a special exhibit on 'Gender Bending Fashion' at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. I took this opportunity to bring my students to explore and interact with this exhibit.
One of the most rewarding experiences is to combine my passion for teaching with my research goals. I have had the opportunity to mentor some amazing undergraduate students at Rutgers on research projects that examined offers at the family dinner table.
