Meeting summary: 

Produce scripts and visual content about the WSU grant program that results in one 30-second introduction video and one 5-8 minute program summary video. Our team will provide guidance for script creation and volunteer time for narrating and editing. 

Timeline is to have videos ready for release by the end of July. 

Interview Transcript: Client Needs Assessment for Creative Product at D.A.O. Studios

Interviewer: Thank you for meeting with us today. We understand you’re interested in creating two videos for a solar program hosted by Washington State University. Could you provide some details on what you envision for these videos?

Client: Certainly. We're looking for two videos to inform people about this program. The first video should be very short, around 20 seconds, just to quickly introduce the program—something like "Hey, there’s a program at WSU that funds X for Y communities." The second video should be more in-depth, around five to ten minutes, providing a comprehensive overview for those who want more information.

Interviewer: That sounds reasonable. We can also create shorter five-second clips for social media to drive viewers to the longer 30-second video, which can then lead to the detailed five-minute video. Additionally, we can create a dedicated page on your website for this program. What else would you need from us to get started?

Client: To get started, I’d need at least 15 minutes to discuss the step-by-step process for our first client—from the initial stages, through the struggles, to the final delivery. This will give us a clear understanding of the client’s journey, which we can then use to tell the story.

Interviewer: That makes sense. We can create a shared document to work together on that. Alternatively, we can conduct an interview where you talk about the process and timeline, and we use AI to capture and translate it into a clean document. My brother is working on a program that converts these conversations into storyboards, which could be very efficient.

Client: That sounds amazing.

Interviewer: Great. This method should help speed up the process of these discovery calls. It can also turn grant information into something our community can better understand. After we get the storyboard, it will be easier to shoot the video.

Client: Let's do it. So, to clarify, the scope includes the storyboarding call and anything else needed to create the videos. The deliverables are the videos and the storyboard.

Interviewer: Exactly. We’re talking about one introductory 20-second video and one more in-depth five-minute video. Do you have a sense of the budget for this project?

Client: I’d need to consult with my brother, as he’ll help produce these videos. It’s primarily the cost of my time and the program’s utilization. If you can tell me your budget, we can work within that. My fiance always tells me I should charge for my time.

Interviewer: Understandable. For reference, if the cost is under $600, I can make a decision immediately. Over $600 requires a board motion. Our next board meeting is on the 9th, so let me know what you decide.

Client: Under $600 works perfectly. We’re looking to use this as a showcase for potential clients. My brother and I are considering creating a business around helping people visualize their ideas through production.

Interviewer: That sounds good. I’ll send you a follow-up summary email with the scope. Coordinate with your brother and then provide some availability for our initial 15-minute meeting.

Client: That sounds great. Next week is busy for us due to the commerce deadline, but the week after is more open. I’ll check with my brother’s schedule as well.

Client: No additional ideas at the moment, but I love the direction we’re heading. This is a great opportunity to expand our services.
