Week of April 27

Reading

All student's should independently read for at least 20 minutes a day. This can be in the form of silent reading or reading to an adult or sibling. This could also include reading on Raz Kids or Epic, as long as the read aloud option is turned off.

READING LOG: When you are done reading, record the information into your reading log. This includes the name of the book, the number of pages read, how long you read for, and a short summary of what you read. Please return a reading log with your letter to your teacher each week.

In addition to independent reading, please read the following articles. You may read these with an adult if you like. We will talk about these articles in our Zoom meetings twice a week. (These articles are printed out in your weekly packets). Be ready to share interesting facts . vocabulary and questions you have!

Math Homework: Every day, complete the math homework in your math book. The homework should be on the same lesson we go over in the zoom meeting that morning.

Science

Go to the mystery science video below to complete this weeks experiments. Use the materials in the science packets to complete the exploration. Printouts are included in the packets that were sent home. If you do not have the materials for the experiment portion, it is OK to skip that part of the lesson.

Writing

Each week you will receive a hand written letter from your teacher in the mail. Please write a letter back to your teacher, answering any questions they ask you, and sharing what you have been up to over the past week.

There will be a stamped envelope included with your teacher's letter. Place your letter to your teacher in the new envelope and mail it out. Wait for a response and repeat the process next week! When you mail your letter, please also include your reading log for the past week.

Your letter to your teacher should be a "final draft". You should be using:

  • letter format

  • proper capital letters

  • proper punctuation

  • trying your best to spell all words correctly

  • neat letters

  • spaces between words
