I am an economist who uses field experiments to help inform public policy and drive actions for actors in the international development space. I'm currently the Chief Economist at IDinsight. In this role I help lead our technical team, who are responsible for ensuring that all of IDinsight's research is conducted at a high level of technical standards. I also lead our publishing work and connections with academia.

I have developed and lead IDinsight's Giving Green initiative, which seeks to provide an answer to the following question: what is the most cost-effective way to turn money into reduced greenhouse gas in the atmosphere? The product is a set of donation and investment recommendations that should hopefully be useful to individuals, businesses, and foundations. Giving Green's recommendations have recently been picked up by Vox and The Atlantic.

Much of my research revolves around trying to figure out what policies can improve the livelihood of the poor. I have particular experience in rural issues such as agricultural technology adoption, extension, and insurance. I've also done work in health, environmental conservation, and nutrition.
