Dan's Pi Shop is a coding workshop designed for 4th and 5th graders to have fun and develop STEM skills in a workshop environment using Raspberry Pi computers and open source software. We explore music, games, photo/video, and robotic applications all while gaining experience in computer technology and Python coding with a hands-on approach. See raspberrypi.org for more information on the Raspberry Pi in education.
Dans's Pi Shop in action!
Here's the 2021/2022 Pi Shop in the Henry Ford library. Students set up their Pi workstations every class and learn computer elements and debugging. We then have a short theory presentation and get to work on daily exercises and personal projects. Students keep a notebook of daily exercises and project notes.
Here are other examples of the Pi Shop lab. Each student has a system to learn technology and build fun projects in a coorperative environment!
Here are the Raspberry Pi 3 and PiZero computers used in the Pi Shop, and some project examples. We use these powerful low-cost computers and re-purposed monitors, keyboards etc. to provide affordable systems for schools and students. Please navigate to Pi Shop subject folders for details on Pi Shop project areas and curriculum.
