Dan O. Pokima was born and raised in Nigeria. In 1977, he joined the Nigerian Air Force as a non-commission officer (NCO). He traveled to New Jersey to study Aviation training at Teterboro School of Aeronautics. After 1-Year of studying, he left due to lack of financial aid. A fellow classmate’s parents took him in, and while he stayed with them in New York City, they invited him to Calvary Baptist Church (CBC). At CBC, Dan finally heard Biblical preaching with clarity, which led him on a new life path interweaving history and Christianity. Glory to God and all to Him he owes because “He leadeth me [Dan] in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake” and “My [Dan] times are in His hands” (Psalm 23:3, 31:15). Amen.
The United States has been called the Land of Hope (Modern Cannan). People from different ethnic groups, from every continent, came to the U.S. for economic and religious freedom, educational opportunity, and political liberty. Unfortunately, many of these people have also faced the institutionalized racism embedded in the history of white Evangelical organizations. From Dan Pokima’s experience at the Calvary Baptist Church (CBC), his admiration for The Epistle of Paul, The Apostle, to Philemon. and the saying, “Sunday is the most segregated day in America,” he began to examine the overall profession and practice of White Evangelical churches. To Dan, these churches made a good profession of faith in Christ. But there was no love in action!
While some are failing to “practice what they profess,” others are thriving. While still reflecting on history, Dan highlights the positives of European missionaries truly making a difference, including the famous David Livingstone and Mary Slessor.

"IN GOD WE TRUST"
Dan O. Pokima’s In God We Trust, emphasizes the distinction between those who “practice what they profess,” and those who don’t. Why “In God We Trust?” To Dan, the United States has a shallow commitment to its motto, and the Judeo-Christian principles on which it was founded. America’s steadfastness on Biblical truth is fast disappearing. Purchase In God We Trust Today, available in hardcover, paperback and Amazon Kindle (eBook).
