Human and animal waste is currently a source of environmental, health, and social burden, but deriving nutrients could supply 102% of Nitrogen and 50% of Phosphorus demand nationally. Local use and short-distance redistribution should be prioritized, and logistic and institutional coordination is key to realize the full potential of waste-to-treasure.
