My Learnings :
I learned that all users and stakeholders, including teachers and parents, can understand through high-quality assessments how effectively children have mastered new material and what more teaching is required. In a variety of disciplinary contexts, guiding principles enable us to consider, evaluate critically, and have faith in the efficiency of a crucial aspect of our students' educational experiences: how we evaluate their learning.
lesson 2
My take aways : For me more than ever, students need to be able to interact and collaborate with people from different cultures. Students can acquire the global perspective they need to succeed in an increasingly interconnected society through 21st-century learning.
Lesson 3
What exactly are performance-based evaluations? A student's knowledge is learned and assessed using performance-based learning and performance-based assessments. An exam or quiz with multiple choice questions is not used in this approach to gauge student achievement.
Writing a few phrases in an open-ended brief response, creating a full analysis in an essay, carrying out a lab inquiry, compiling a portfolio of student work, and finishing an original research paper are a few examples of performance assessments.
My learnings :
I learned that students are encouraged to apply higher-order thinking abilities like analysis, synthesis, and evaluation through performance-based evaluations. Students become more adept at employing these abilities as a result of having more opportunity to practice them.
How do I develop a scoring rubric?
Identify the characteristics of what you are assessing. ...
Review the standard of success for the learning outcome. ...
Describe the best work you could expect using these characteristics. ...
Describe the worst acceptable product using these characteristics. ...
Describe an unacceptable product.
My Learnings :
I Learned that an effective technique for measuring student achievement on an assessment task objectively is a scoring rubric. Although they might range in complexity, rubrics often focus on measuring very precise specified learning outcomes. To evaluate performance, use a range. Rubrics help students: Understand expectations and components of an assignment. Become more aware of their learning process and progress. Improve work through timely and detailed feedback.
What is the affective domain of learning?
The affective learning domain involves our emotions toward learning and how that develops as we progress from a low order process, such as listening, to a higher order process, like resolving an issue.
Example Objective
Learners will understand the value of communication and stakeholder engagement in program implementation by the end of this course.
The Taxonomy of the Affective Domain contains five levels, from lowest to highest: receiving, responding, valuing, organization, and characterization (Krathwohl et al., 1964; Anderson et al., 2001).
What is the Affective Domain? According to the developers of the revised Bloom's Taxonomy, the affective domain includes “the manner in which we deal with things emotionally, such as feelings, values, appreciation, enthusiasms, motivations, and attitudes” (Krathwohl, Bloom, Masia, 1973.)
My Learnings :
I learned that the questions of why we are learning what we are learning are addressed in the affective realm. We do care about how our students feel about our subject, whether we realize it or not.
