Daniels Lake is located 50 miles by flight (20 min flight) or a 2,5 hour gorgeous drive along the pacific coast on Highway 1 from Anchorage International Airport. It's most known for its abundance of salmon, trout, as well as moose, deer, bear and many other game animals.
Fantastic, serene or amazing are words to describe our view. There is no public access to the sparsely populated, 2 mile long lake making it exclusive and zen. Daniels Lake has a healthy population of native rainbow trout. Boats, canoes, jet ski, and of course, airplane allows you to use the lake in the summers. In the winters, you can enjoy landing with airplane equipped with ski landing gear, as well as snow machines and RTVs.
Loons, beaver and various migrating waterfowl swim around the dock, and the eagles, owls, hawks, mink and lynx are seen spying on them.
Sockeye (red) salmon spawn along the shore in front of our place during the late summer. You can paddle a canoe or rowboat around with them. You can also walk or drive to the mouth of the creek that is fed by Daniels Lake and watch salmon coming into the lake. At the peak, there are hundreds of fish swimming along the lake shore.
The Kenai Peninsula is well known for its big game animals, including moose, caribou, sheep, mountain goats, brown and black bear - all available for hunting during season with proper permits.
