I am an 8th Grade Science teacher at ARMS with four 67 minute core content blocks. I have two 67 minute planning blocks, one of which is used to meet with my Professional Learning Committee (PLC). The second planning period is used to support teachers within my content areas in their classes.
In total I teach 98 kids with a varying number of students in each of my blocks. My first block contains 24 students, second block 29, fourth block 26, and my fifth block contains 19 students.
My student population consists of 54 girls and 44 boys. Racially my students are identified as 5 White, 45 Hispanic or Latino, 8 Asian (to include Middle Eastern), and 40 African American. There are 5 students identified as Exceptional Children (EC), 1 identified as Academically Intellectually Gifted (AIG), and 6 with a 504 Plan in place. Most of my students are performing below grade level proficiency and 31 have recently exited the ELL program with 5 still classified as ELL.
