In Google Slides, you can create collaborative PowerPoint presentations. This tool comes with premade themes, different fonts, embedded animations, and videos. These power points can also be stored for later use. As a teacher, this can also be used to story morning powerpoints and different unit powerpoints for later school years. To the left is a sample of a Google Slide PowerPoint I made.
Using google forms is a great way to manage parts of the classroom. In this form, to the left, I have created a Parent Question/Concern form. This form allows parents to reach out with any concerns or questions they have that may not need to be immediately answered. Google forms can also be used to ask students their interests, as an assessment, or as a fun way to have the students ask each other questions.
In Nearpod, you can create interactive slideshows. They are usually used for instructional or assessment-related purposes. This application is mainly a student engagement platform. It allows for teaching with technology to be smoother and less stressful for teachers. This is a fun way to get an assessment of the class and where they are in understanding the topic. To the left, is an example of a Nearpod created to help students understand growth mindset.
Plickers is an assessment tool that allows teachers to collect an on the spot assessment without using technology or paper and pencil. Each student receives a specific plicker card. Every student will give their answer by the way they rotate their card up. The cards can come in different sizes for different grades. Teachers can see what answer each student puts as their names have been assigned to their card. However, students do not know their name is with-it which brings a sort of less-stress idea of the assessment. This is a great assessment tool for students to answer without feeling the stress of a "test". Something I will definitely look into using in the future.
Go Noodle
This is hands down one of my favorite classroom management tools that I will be using in my classroom. Students are full of energy and sometimes have no way of getting that energy out except for recess which is not long enough. Students can struggle to pay attention after a set time of learning so these videos are an AMAZING way to take a couple of minutes of a "brain break". This also helps grow the teacher-student relationship within the classroom and students will be more willing to complete work and be respectful in the classroom. I can not wait to use this video in my future classroom.
Dash is a blue robot that helps young students start learning about coding. There are many different applications we will use in the classroom that will allow students to help dash speak, travel, and even change colors. Dash is an amazing piece of technology that will really push students to think critically and introduce them to the amazing world of STEM.
BlueBots/Beebots are robots we will be using in the classroom this year. These robots allow for students to code right on the robot. Students will place their robot on the mat and click the buttons in the order they want the BeeBot to move. Once they feel as though they have the sequence correct they will hit go. The Beebot will then follow that code to reach its destination. This is a great piece of technology for students to start learning about coding even at a young age.
The Ozobot is a robot that we will use toward the end of the school year after the students have been introduced to the two previous robots. Students will use markers to code a path for each robot to take. The color codes along the path will tell the Ozo to do a different trick. We will have applications that students may use to do different challenges or keep up with points along the way for each trick they can get the Ozo to complete.
