Intro
I am an Associate Professor in Hydrology and Hydraulic Constructions at Politecnico di Milano since 2016. I have a MS in Environmental Engineering at Politecnico (1998), and a PhD in Hydraulic Engineering at Politecnico di Milano, Part. Fulfil. at MIT, Cambridge USA (2003).
I teach Hydrology, Hydraulic Soil Defence, Hydraulic Structures, Water Resources Management, Climate Change and Urban Hydrologic Resilience, Mountain Hydrology and Climate Change at BS, MS, and PhD level for Engineers, and Architects.
My field of investigation covers water resources and hydrology, and the effect of climate change thereby.
I coordinate several projects and field expeditions in Europe, South America, Asia, Africa. I am an Associate with several scientific agencies, among others with the EVK2CNR committee of Italy, within the SHARE initiative: Stations at High Altitude for Research on the Environment.
I am the coordinator of the first Interdepartmental Laboratory on Climate Change of Politecnico di Milano, the Climate-Lab.
I am active in dissemination in the field of climate change, e.g. as a blogger of Climalteranti, and on several other media.
Among others I am member of the Initiative, “Human and Social Studies on Science and Technology”, META, Politecnico di Milano.
I am Member of the Advisory (Scientific) Board of the PhD Program of DICA Department, POLIMI.
I am author of ca. 200 contributions, i.e. books, chapters, peer reviewed journals (90+), proceedings, and speeches at conferences.
Languages spoken
I speak decenty a number of languages, as follows
Mother tongue: Italian
Good knowledge of English, spoken and written, studying, working.
Good knowledge of Spanish, spoken and written, studying and travelling.
Basic knowledge of French.
Basic knowledge of Russian, Level A2, studying.
Hobbies and recreational activities
I like outdoor mountain hiking and I do most of my vacation camping/trekking/hiking.
I’ve been volunteering in a Scout group (1982-1995), also for some years as a Scout Chief. AGESCI (http://www.agesci.org/)
I am a SCUBA Diver (CMAS certificate, 1st level, ca. 60 dives) and I’m particularly interested in sea environment and its defence and conservation.
I carry sporting activity, including football, swimming, rugby light, kayaking, biking, padelling.
I play soccer (5x5) one-two days a week, ever since 1997.

I’ve been fulfilling my military duties carrying out Civil Service.
I’ve been travelling in South-America (Costa Rica, Chile, Brasil, Perù, Argentina) as well as in the USA (e.g. California, Alaska, Massachusetts), and Canada (Quebec), in India, Vietnam, Cambodia, Pakistan, Namibia, Nepal, South Africa, Ile Maurice, Cuba, and in several countries in Europe (Turkey, Sweden, Spain, France, Russia, England, Belgium, Netherland, Switzerland, Austria, Greece-Crete, etc..).
