Michael Challis: Michael is a behavioural theorist who runs experiments. He is a second year MRes student, so will soon transfer over to the PhD. Michael's other supervisor is Herakles Polemarchakis.
Ozlem Toplar: Ozlem is a second year MRes student and should be stransfering to the PhD in the summer.
Carole Gao: Carole has just completed her MRes and is working on mental health and how and why individuals might mask their mental health issues or neurodiversity from employers. Carole's other supervisor is Matthew Ridley.
Malavika Mani: Malavika has just completed her MRes and is working on understanding administrative hurdles that impede the reporting of sexual harassment. Malavika's other supersor is Matthew Ridley.
Matthias Endres: Matthias works on the ethics of artificial intelligence, how AI can be persuasive and issues around trust and AI. Matthew's other supervisors are Kirill Pogorelskiy and Robby Akerlof.
Elaheh Fatemi Pour: Elaheh's interests include experimental economics with a special focus on gender issues and immigration. Elaheh's other supervisor is Nathan Canen.
George Ferridge: George's has very diverse interests! These include understanding how nudges can be used to prevent sexual harassment, measuring the performance impact of football managers and (with me) extending the classic "peak-end rule" developed by Kahneman and Tversky.
Arman Mohammadi: Arman is a behavioural theorist working on the interactions between parents and children. Arman's other supervisor is Robby Akerlof.
Xueying Zhao: Xueying worked on various topics in information economics in her PhD, including the market for information, biased beliefs, and heterogeneous priors applied to principal-agent problems. She is headed to the Frankfurt School of Economics and Finance to take up a post-doctoral position. Her other supervisor was Sinem Hidir.
Eugene Malthouse: Eugene was based in the Psychology Department at the University of Warwick before leaving to take up a post-doctoral position at Nottingham. We still work together (alongside Eugene's other supervisor, Thomas Hills, and Charlie Pilgrim) on trying to understand behaviour in collective action games, espeiclaly the role of diversity in culture, wealth and vulnerability. Together we all founded the Collective Decision-Making and Culture Lab.
Jian Xie: Jian worked on a variety of issues related to economic history and industrial organisation and the role of family ties in firm behaviour. He is now an assistant professor at the College of Business in the Southern University of Science and Technology in China .
Ceren Bengu Cibik: Ceren worked on the relationship between self-awareness and dishonesty which has resulted in one joint paper together so far with me (here). She is now based at Ofcom.
Antonio Schiavone: (Thesis entitled "Essays on Old and New Media, their Interaction, and their Effect on Voters and Representatives"): in his PhD Antonio worked on several topics in public economics and political economy with a particular focus on the media and internet. Antonio completed his PhD in 2021/22 and is currently working as a post-doc in Bologna. His other supervisors were Victor Lavy and Michela Redoano.
Yu-Chun Huang: Yu-Chun was based on the Psychology Department at Warwick. She worked on the psychological forces that shape business decisions. Her other supervisor was Gordon Brown.
Shi Zhuo (Thesis entitled "Essays in Behavioural Economics"): Shi started her PhD in October 2017 and completed in 2021. She worked on understanding the role of apologies in behaviour (with Jonathan Yeo), multiple identities (with me) and also on mindfulness (with me, Elliot Ash and Anthony Tuckwell). Shi held a University of Warwick Bridges Scholarship during her time at Warwick.
Neha Bose (Thesis entitled "Essays in Behavioural Economics and Language"): in her PhD Neha worked on the interactions between personality, theory of mind and language. We have a paper together on the role of small talk in helping to develop theory of mind (here) and a second on the use of behavioural nudges to help combat climate change (here). Neha held a University of Warwick Chancellor's Scholarship during her time as a PhD student. Neha worked at the CMA immediately after her PhD but is now based at Meta. Neha's other supervisor was Thomas Hills (in the psychology department at Warwick).
Anthony Tuckwell (Thesis entitled "Essays in Behavioural Economics"): in his PhD Anthony worked on the behavioural impact of mindfulness with me, Elliot Ash and Shi Zhuo, on evaluating the sunk cost effect with me and David Ronayne (here) and on the use of music as a way of measuring national life satisfaction with me, Alessandro Ragano and Emmanouil Benetos. Anthony completed his PhD in February 2021, he held a CAGE (ESRC) PhD studentship and his other supervisors were Robbert Akerlof and Roberto Pancrazi.
Mahnaz Nazneen (Thesis entitled "Individual characteristics and mood effects on strategic interactions"): in her PhD, Mahnaz worked on behavioural and experimental economics especially in relation to gender, corruption and the microeconomics of happiness. Mahnaz completed her PhD in 2017 at Warwick and is now a full-time teaching fellow and lab manager in the Economics Department at Wariwick. Mahnaz's other supervisor was Eugenio Proto.
Neel Ocean (Thesis entitled "New directions in behavioural economics: essays on personality and well-being"): in his PhD, Neel worked on personality and how it interacts with labour market decisions. Neel completed his PhD submitted his PhD in 2016 at Warwick. He spent some time as a post-doctoral researcher at Exeter and Leeds but is now back at Warwick as an Assistant Professor in the Warwick Manfuacturing Group's "Applied Engineering Psychology" division. Neel's other supervisor was Andrew Oswald.
David Ronayne (Thesis entitled "Issues facing the modern consumer: topics in industrial organisation and decision-making"): in his PhD, David worked on consumer behviour incluing work on price comparison websites and alternative models of utility. David completed his PhD in 2015 at Warwick. Immediately after completing his PhD he became a Research Fellow at Nuffield College, University of Oxford, before taking up a position as an Assistant Professor at ESMT in Berlin. David's other PhD supervisor was Motty Perry.
Athanasios Athanasopoulos (Thesis entitled "Three essays on technological change and welfare"): Thanos works on theoretical industrial organization, especially related to compatability and inter-operability in the software industry. Thanos completed his PhD in 2015 at Warwick. In September 2016 he moved to Leicester Business School where he is now a Senior Lecturer. Thanos's other PhD supervisor was Claudio Mezzetti.
Andrew Harkins (Thesis entitled "Essays on social networks, information and organisations"): Andrew works on social network theory and information economics. Andrew completed his PhD in 2015 at Warwick. He was based in Paris as a post-doctoral researcher for 2015-16 but is now back at Warwick as a senior teaching fellow. Andrew's other PhD supervisor was Bhaskar Dutta.
Stephen Lovelady (Thesis entitled "Experiential regret aversion"): Stephen worked on building a theoretical foundation for regret, and testing his ideas both in the laboratory and empirically. Stephen completed his PhD in 2015 at Warwick. He is currently Global Modelling & Analytics Manager at Unilever and was formerly at Deloitte. Stephen's other PhD supervisor was Jonathan Cave.
Ruben Pastor-Vicedo (Thesis entitled "Optimal procurement with auditing and bribery"): Ruben worked in the area of theoretical industrial organization, and in particular in the role of experts and intermediaries, and of testing, in models of asymmetric information. Ruben completed his PhD in 2013 at Warwick. He is currently Regulations and Compliance Manager at Robin Hood Energy and was formerly at Ofgem. Ruben's other PhD supervisor was Claudio Mezzetti.
Rachel Hayward (Thesis entitled "The Impact of Herding on the Sustainability of Pegged Exchange Rates"): Rachel completed her PhD in 2006 at Cambridge. Rachel has worked at a variety of consulting firms, think tanks and regulatory bodies including Acuity Economics, The Picker Institute, Nuffield Trust, OXERA, DotEcon and Ofqual. She was Head of Government Affairs at the University of Warwick but has since become Programme Manager for the Business Continuity and Recovery Team.
Merrilyn Groom (Thesis entitled Understanding the Development and Role of Norms and Preferences: Essays in Behavioural and Applied Microeconomics): Merrilyn completed her DPHil at the University of Oxford and was examined in April 2023.
Jasmin Droege (Thesis entitled Essays on Microeconomic Theory): Jasmin completed her DPhil at the University of Oxford and was examined in September 2022.
Daniel Alonso Diez (Thesis entitled Essays in Public and Behavioural Economics): Daniel completed his PhD at the University of Warwick and was examined in January 2022.
Jonathan Yeo (Thesis entitled Essasy in Behavioural Economics):Jonathan completed his PhD in 2019 at the University of Warwick. He is now an Assistant Professor at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
Andis Sofianos (Thesis entitled Individual and group characteristics and their economic implications): Andis completed his PhD in 2016 at the University of Warwick. He is now an Assistant Professor at the University of Heidelberg.
Konstantin Matthies (Thesis entitled "Economics of risk and information: theoretical and experimental contributions"): Konstantin completed his PhD in 2015 at the University of Cambridge.
Sarah Mansour (Thesis entitled Essays on experimental economics): Sarah completed her PhD in 2014 at the University of Warwick and is now an Assistant Professor at the University of Cairo.
Michalis Zaouras (Thesis entitled: Essays on market structure and competition): Michalis completed his PhD in 2012 at the University of Warwick and is now a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Groningen.
Seyed Farshad Fatemi Ardestani (Thesis entitled Essays in industrial organization): Seyed completed his PhD at University College London in 2009 and is now an Assistant Professor at Sharif University of Technology.
Aron Toth (Thesis entitled Essays on moral hazard, reputation and market structure): Aron completed his PhD in 2008 at the University fo Warwick. Aron first worked at the Financial Stability Directorate in the Bank of England before moving on to become a Lecturer in Economics at the University of Bath.
