Daniel Little

Welcome! My name is Daniel Little (he/him), and I am a PhD Candidate in the Government Department at the University of Texas at Austin. 

My research interests are focused on the study of the American labor movement. I am especially interested in the effects of labor unions on political outcomes, including political activities conducted by union locals, the impacts of unions on voter behavior, and policy externalities that are produced from labor involvement in politics. In addition to the labor movement specifically, I am broadly interested in the politics of class and inequality, the politics of interest groups, and the study of state and local politics. 

At the University of Texas at Austin, I serve as the Director of Undergraduate Education for the Policy Agendas Project, President of Queer in Political Science, and as a Graduate Fellow for the Irma Rangel Public Policy Institute. My research has been presented at the American Political Science Association Conference, the Midwest Political Science Association Conference, the Southern Political Science Association Conference, and the Conference of the Comparative Agendas Project. 

I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Planning, Public Policy, and Management in 2021. Prior to graduate school, I worked for Renewable Northwest as a Research Consultant studying the economic impacts of renewable energy development in the Pacific Northwest. 

Outside of work, I enjoy cycling, birdwatching, and advocating for safe infrastructure for walking and cycling.
