  • Appointed to lead and train 170+ fellow volunteers in all aspects of genuine, skill-specific service to indigenous populations and the general public.
  • Organized emergency disaster relief, school restoration, home construction, and English lessons throughout central-west Brazil.

Clown for a birthday party at an orphanage one day, discussing health policy with the Brazilian Secretary of Health the next. Daniel was eminently adaptable to his circumstance, and became the leader of 170 missionaries, giving training on a variety of topics to mixed Brazilian/American audiences across four states and the Federal District.

Daniel's tenacity shone through: even after being twice infected with dengue fever, he continued to give rides to a blind man - on his bicycle! He connected with the local radio station so thoroughly that they gave him a weekly one-hour talk show."
