Dancers are given the opportunity to take their Royal Accademy of Dance (RAD) dance exams for an additional cost. Exams give your dancer something to work towards. The RAD graded system provides dancers opportunities to progress and achieve.
All candidates who successfully pass an examination or award receive a certificate of achievement, award medal, breakdown of their result, vocational credits.
Dancers who wish to take their exams may be expected to attend additional classes. As we approach the exam date, additional rehearsals may be booked outside of regular class hours.
In June, dancers perform in a professional-level ballet at a local theatre. Dancers start working on the year-end ballet in the Winter session, starting in January. Dancers will:
Be cast a role in the ballet
Learn choreography and music cues
Be fitted and rent a costume (costumes remain in the studio at all times, any alterations must be discussed with Ms Diane)
Scheduled for additional rehearsals as we approach show day
Parents are an important part of the show (you don't have to dance, promise)! You can support the show by:
Bringing your dancer to class and rehearsal
Helping your dancer try on their costume and making small alterations (like moving a button)
Supporting and participating in fundraisers
Volunteering as a dancers' assistant back stage (Each class requires 2 dancers' assistants to help backstage during rehearsals and the show. (depending on age of dancers). They help with costume changes, bring dancers backstage for their cues to go on stage and monitor dancers backstage during downtime.)
