Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Daniel Betts didn’t find comedy until moving to California, where people immediately took notice when only a few months into performing, he walked on stage at the Oil City Comedy Royal Rumble comedy competition and took first place as a relatively unknown comedian. On just his one-year anniversary of ever stepping up to a mic, he was featuring at The World Famous Comedy Store in Los Angeles for a packed Main Room.
Soon after he was performing with big names in the industry including Howie Mandel, and David Koechner and opening for folks like Joey Diaz, Theo Von and Joel McHale, to name a few! In less than two years of performing, he was asked to head to Afghanistan with Armed Forces Entertainment to perform for our forward deployed troops as part of the GIs of Comedy Tour.
Living in California’s central valley, Daniel runs the longest running open mic in Bakersfield’s history every Thursday night where he also runs a monthly show. Daniel has been instrumental in the growth and development of a roaring comedy scene in Bakersfield, a town previously known for the sounds of Merle Haggard and Buck Owens but is quickly gaining attention for its exploding comedy scene. You can catch Daniel at the Rocket Shop Café, Temblor Brewing Company, Fox theater, The Comedy Store, Levity Live and all over California.
