Project Description:

For this project I had to find different examples of Information being hacked by different media and evaulate my resources. For this unit I was  asked too complete the " CSIT Cybersecurity Training".

BBB warns of growing identity theft scams in Louisiana 

The News anchor starts by talking about the high levels of identity theft in Louisiana. Identity theft involves stealing personal information like your name, social security number, or bank information to commit fraud or other crimes. Those who commit identity theft will make purchases in others' names without realizing it. To protect oneself, be careful to whom you give your information, monitor bank statements, and make sure to report anything suspicious.

• The truthfulness and integrity of the facts:  I find the information presented in both the website and video to be true. The video provided evidence of scaming text messages trying to steal social security information. In the description you can find help ful tips if you or those around you have been a victim.

• How is it written and presented? It is presented with other new information and ads. It is written in a transcript, of the video presented on the website.

• Links and Citations: Link to WAFB News and Better Business Bureau to report if being scammed. 

When will I be able to shop online at M&S again?

M&S was hit by a ransomware cyberattack starting in the week of April 2025. The attackers reportedly gained access through an encryption-critical system using "DragonForce" Ransomware. The attack caused M&S to pause in-store and online orders to be paused. Some stores have lost millions in revenue due to the sales pause since the hack. Customers are also scared that their data has been compromised, and they are concerned. The company is facing company damage and a bad reputation.

• The truthfulness and integrity of the facts: On the website the content is informing the reader of how its takes time to still bring the retail store back from the cyber attack. I thinks the website is being truthfull because M&S has still suspended their orders online. This is a critical problem, they are losing profit and can have an affect on future customers about their data. 

• How is it written and presented?  It is presented with images of the website showing the paused orders online. The website also shows the different topics, of how they are trying to ressolve, the solution and communicating to there customers. By showing the images it provides proof of how the company is losing money. They are also showing an image of there physical store being closed because of cyberattack.

• Links and Citations: Link to BBC News, Different topics related to the company of how the cyber attack has afffected the company. The News outlet has also shown different topics and adds at the bottom of the article.

Lesson Learned:

In this unit I was able to get a better understanding how my digital footprint can be vulnerable if not protected carefully. I also learned how to use google search engine, I was interested in two topics: theft identity, and Cyberattacks. In both the articles I got a better understanding of how each company can be vulnernable and also our privacy can be compromised.
