Research interests:
Theory and applications of mixed-integer linear and non-linear programming; Applications of optimization to production planning, logistics and other relevant real-world business and engineering problems.
Education:
I obtained a Ph.D. in Operations Research at ISyE - Georgia Tech. Before going to Georgia Tech, I obtained a Mathematical Engineering title (master equivalent) and a Master in Operations Management from Universidad de Chile.
Experience:
As an important part of my education, I was very fortunate to have a number of nice and fun research experiences:
At Universidad de Chile, my advisors Guillermo Durán, Andrés Weintraub and I developed a MIP optimization model for production planning in Salmon Industry. This project was in collaboration with a Chilean company, and researchers Fernanda Bravo, Javier Marenco and Abilio Lucena.
At Georgia Tech, my advisor Santanu S. Dey and I studied some theoretical properties of general convex MIPs. In this project we collaborated with Juan Pablo Vielma.
At the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, I worked as a Summer intern with Sanjeeb Dash and Oktay Günlük on studying theoretical properties of cutting planes for MIPs and some of its algorithmic implications.
I was an Assistant Professor in the Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech from Fall 2014 until Summer 2016.
I was an Assistant Professor at the School of Business at Universidad Adolfo Ibañez from Summer 2016 to Summer 2023.
