B i o g r a p h y
I was born in Lewes, Sussex, England, in 1963. I studied art at Brighton Polytechnic and received a BA (Hons) in Painting at Bath Academy of Art, Corsham. On graduating I moved to London. There I worked as a free-lancing cartoonist and illustrator for newspapers and periodicals, including Private Eye, The Guardian, and The New Statesman. I also illustrated and wrote books for children, while developing my painting. I moved to the USA in 1991 and currently live and work in the Boston area. I earned an MA at Massachusetts College of Art in 2008.
My influences and inspirations are broad and constantly evolving, but include Sol Lewitt, Chuck Jones, Keith Haring, Joseph Albers, the crafts and colors of Mexico, Pink Panther cartoons, and children's book illustrations from the 1950s and 1960s.
